Hi there.Try instead of append,use command ADD LIMB.

I think you have miss read the help for the append limb command,
it returns the limb number that it adds to you when it creates the limb,so trying to do things to those limbs at a later time and just assuming that there one to four wont work like you expect.If you add limbs to obj1 for example then the first limb you have to add is 1 and then 2 etc.If you then add limbs to obj2 then you have to start from 1 again,and they must allways be added in order.
If you want to hide the base object and just show the limbs then you have to hide limb 0.
Try your example with the normal add limb command as it will give you a better insight into how limbs work.
