Hi,
I just added a simple room (scifi/Control room low) on default layer at pos 0,0. When play the test, I found about 300000 polygons in scene. It's that normal?
Of course, changing player position the number of polygons are significantly reduced.

I'm having a really hard time working that screenshot out, as the floor looks like it is made up of lots and lots of cubes

It looks to me like Automatic Floor is enabled. Check your preferences.

@Marc Steene

Yes, it is Automatic Floor enabled. But I am inside of a full closed room. These tons of outside polygons I think must not be processed since I am not leaving the room.

On the another hand, if I need AF to be enabled, and if AF looks, by what I see, repeating few polygons for 1600 times, I think it's better if program may handle with base floor(s) for AF in a better way (for example, if user have AF enabled, adding few polygons only to cover the base surface of 40x40 units)

@Nbt

Yes, it's still working bit at 6fps for me in given position (front of external polygons).
How you solved this issue? You did?

Thanks

Did you even try turning it off? The polygons are rendered regardless of where you are.

I don't see any reason why you would ever want automatic floor enabled. What feature could it provide that is so useful to you that you're willing to have your fps dropped to 10% of what it's supposed to be?

That is one thing I have noticed regarding FPSC whilst I was working on maps with more than one floor level (like the map for my london video) FPSC seems at certain places in the level to look right through solid floors/walls and get effected by polygons that cannot be seen in the layer below.

I tested this by deleting my subway and getting none of the dead FPS zones whilst walking about up top, yet with the subway in place I got hits to my FPS at certain places

@Marc Steene, @Nbt
You are right, Marc, without Automatic Floor all looks better. Even if I simulate AF adding 1600 floors at layer 0, all looks better (in this last case, about 30,000 polygons in scene, instead of 300,000).
For the moment I don't really need AF (it's a non-sense feature?). But the basic question still remain a bit: I don't know why external polygons are calculated, because may became a problem when large maps I use.

External polygons aren't calculated but for some reason the Automatic Floor is never culled. Just disable it and forget about it.

I understand. Just Resource Monitor say external polygons (all or a part of) are in scene. Hope I miss something and no reason to be worried about the performance.
Thanks

Yeah IMO the automatic floor was just a failed atempt to make peoples lifes easier with outdoor mapping.
