Hi, I'm using a great chimney model, made by anayar, in the 1st level I'm making. I've tried adding smoke to it, using the stock fpsc smoke decal. I've tried fiddling with the numbers a bit, but I can't get the smoke to show up when I test the level. Can someone tell me how to get smoke working please. Thanks in advance!

I game therefore I am.

If your using particles, then 1st make sure you change the decals main script to the particle one "decalparticle.fpi", or nothing you change will effect it.

Then just give it a smallish number for Y linear and a bit of random motion on X and Z. lower the alpha as needed and decrease the life increment to about 3 or 5 I would say. You may also wish to increase the scale a bit to make it puffy.

I don't smoke. I think it's bad for you.

What NBT says. He's our resident expert on particles. I'm assuming you are using v1.17?

I reject your reality and substitute my own!

Thanks for the help guys, I'm going to try Nbt's advice out now.

(Edit) Ok, I did like Nbt said and it worked a treat, thanks! I changed the main script to decalparticle.fpi, then it was just a matter of tweaking the numbers until I got a result I was happy with. I've attached a screenie. What do you guys think, does it look like smoke from a house chimney?

I would suggest you decrease the life increment a bit and add a little to both the random start and random motion on X and Z (maybe set the X Scale to 150??), as it looks a little like a steam jet from the screenie ??

OK, I've redone the smoke the way you suggested, I must admit, it does look better. It looks more like smok now instead of a jet of steam!
