Developer: Astek

About the Game:

You will notice some things right from the start. More notably,
the graphics. I assure you that it was intended this way.
This game is a tribute to one of the most disturbing and wacky
games I have ever played. Will I drop names? Most likely not.
You should figure that one out.

Dojo is a hazy, dream-scape world that I assure you wasn't based
off PB's Umbra. One concept most failed to recapture is the blurred
and altered reality of dreams. I have never had a crystal clear
dream, even though many fond dreams may be remembered easily.
I wasn't on drugs (nor do I do them) but I wanted to deliver a game
that made 0 sense and had several possible endings (which there are).

Dreams are very sketchy. One moment you may be lucid and aware but
that doesn't mean that your dream won't still overtake you!

Enter the Dojo, and see for yourself.

Backstory:

I just so happen to be awed by the idea of creating something
that could be considered a fan game, but at the same time,
creating something that I have yet to see a FPSC game do. This game
was made to be non-linear. "Dreams have no walls", I said; that
is when I decided that allowing more then 1 solid path and making
way for re-playability. The game was made in one 24 hour period
and fueled by soda. Enjoy.

THERE IS MORE THEN 1 ENDING

BUG FIXES:

This should help you run the game correctly if it crashes.

XP/VISTA/ WINDOWS 7 INSTRUCTIONS :

In order to play this game, you will need
to install the latest Direct X 9.0c drivers and
take a few special actions for the game to load
correctly, if using Windows 7 and Vista.

1. Set the .EXE to run in Administrator mode.

2. Launch the game in compatibiliy with either
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 3.

How about playing the game!
The link is just above. I've bug tested it for 5 hours and
it should run correctly minus this 1 bug I just can't seem to fix.

Thanks. But seriously, if you do play the game, play it more
then once. It has several endings. I hope you will enjoy and
post back any findings or comments you might have!

I'm updating the Download right now. It fixes a possible
outcome in the game.

Come on guys! I've got over 20 downloads and 1 or 2 people
talking to me about it. Seriously. I'm wanting some feedback and
more directly, maybe the chance to help if anyone gets stuck.

Thanks

Played it. Really weird, and one part kind of seemed like a acid trip, but it was pretty cool. I think if you plan on making another game like this or a sequel, you should make it longer.

Did you complete it all the way? There is like 5-7 different
outcomes. I mean, there are different paths to take.
Thanks for the comment though.

Played it yesterday, and found it very fun. I found four endings, counting the ones I died, and could have found a fifth if the door would open(You know the one with the switches in the vent, one of the doors would not open, and I got killed by a monster through the wall). Good job

Thanks for the downloads guys.

Megaupload has been acting weird here lately. My file is also
hosted on a Premium account, so I don't know what it is unless
MU is getting insane amounts of traffic.

Since the problems have ensued, I've uploaded it to SplatterSpawn.
It's 100% free to download still. Don't worry.

If anyone else would like their games sold or hosted there,
they can have vendor accounts made and what not!

Maybe you guys wont be hit by such heavy traffic!

I think i'll pass on the download since in order to create the account requires some things I don't wish to pass on. I really like the idea but the screen shots don't really give me enough of a reason to download it. In all honestly dude, it looks really plain. Maybe a few more shots and a possibly a video would make me give it a try. Don't take it the wrong way.

You don't need an account to download free stuff. Must be a glitch
in the system here lately.

As well as I don't plan to show anything else other then the
two above. The start is plain, yes. I don't wish to show you any
more hence it might ruin something.

It reads "Add To Cart". I've clicked that and then it takes you to your "Shoping Cart" And when I click "Proceed to checkout". It asks me to either sign in or create an account. And it still does it. Thats some glitch.

I sense the sarcasm. But, no that is the way it will have to be.
You cant successfully gut the software like that without crippling
it. To all the people interested though, a created account does not
require your address or anything.

To be honest, I think people are afraid they will be hunted and
killed in some freak 1 in a billion incident if they drop their info.

Seriously though, that has been removed for all of the people
who were concerned. An account is free on splatterspawn and
you are not required to drop your address unless you plan to
sale stuff via the store.

I played it and I must say.... it was a weird trip! Take that as a compliment. I know my compliments are not always the sane ones, but... whatever.

I played as many endings as I could find and at start it was like... maby a bit weird, but still nothing that would really pop up from the rest of the masses, but after a few steps I noticed I was wrong.... damn wrong.

I'm sorry if this is a little nooby question but I don't know how to download the game from SplatterSpawn , Must I create an account ?
I also liked the multi-ending thing , I'm working on my game now it has 2 endings the player can choose which one to do .

Cheers.

We thought we would allow non-member downloads but apparently that
cannot be done without heavy modifications. To download, you will
have to make an account but you aren't required to give sensitive
details. We changed that due to many suggestions and the fact we do
not ship physical items to people.

Hey! Been a while since people have commented but i downloaded this game from your website (i think it was your website). The game was AWESOME! That was a GREAT idea to make a game like that! Every time i go back to play it, i find different places to go and hidden teleporters. I love this game! It is SO cool and funny! The best FPSCreator game ive ever played! If you make another game like this, tell me! (somehow )
Thanks For The Game!!!

The Screens show a segment and a door...

Well... this is either a joke or an attempt to make a game on the minimum....

I would love to find out but the download tells me that "something went wrong"

The game has substance. Trust me. This was a 6-7 hour span of level planning compiling and several errors and bad compiles. This was not meant to be the next Halo btw. It was a simple try to make a game in a 24 hour period.

If this is a joke then I guess Umbra is too.

Edit³ Heres the review:

THIS REVIEW HAS BEEN ADABTED TO THIS GAME....SMALL GAMES AND BETAS WILL BE RATED DIFFERENT THAN FULL VERSIONS OF LARGER GAMES

Quote: "The Story"

A dream setting with a little asian/japanese touch. There is no actualy story, so there won't be a rating.

First round SPOILERS!!!

Just, here is what I experienced: The game starts in one of these empty hallways...I went to the right where there was this door and got teleported back..now I took my way to the left where I went through a redlit door.

I came into some kind of medical researchlab. Very basically designed, but the sound was good... I pressed all the buttons in the surgicallab rooms... One of Bond1's Asylum Creatures attacked me from behind. There was this really nice body spawning later...a nice touch, even though that brute corpse doesn't fit in a medical setting.

Than I kept going and the game ended... So, I saw ASTEK writing down that you should try it multiple times...and since I can't get any sleep tonight anyway...I did!

Second round

This time I went to the left...I kept moving until I entered a strange, colorfully lit room with a funny creature in it that beamed me right back in the hallway...so, now I went to another room and...

got teleported on to some kind of bridge with huge mushrooms around and some green creature trying to kill me...

I jumped over that little fella and moved into the dark where I fell down and died.

Quote: "Overall Presentation"

Alright... extractable archive....no dramarama around it. Good start, load and death screens.

55%

Quote: " Game Mechanics "

Not much, but everything was well made.

60%

Quote: "Gameplay"

Okay, there was no shooting in this, but the gameplay was actually most of the time only walking around. It had a slow feeling to me and could use some more interactiveness.

40%

Quote: " Level-Design "

There was almost nothing in those levels...but the way you had all those things happening in just one level was pretty cool and well thought... A bit more complex leveldesign wouldn't have hurt you though.

35%

Quote: "Graphics"

Overall blury, bright and very pixelate...
the game has extremely low texture resolutions which killed all the details. The corpse and the lobotomy seem out of place and it overall looks a bit washedout.
With some nice optics, this game could have been even more trippy...
Imagine all the tricks you could do with shaders
Colors have been used well though.

15%

Quote: " Sounds "

I was missing some kind of dreamy, delirious noise in the hallway...something you hear when you wake up in a hospital and you are still dizzy maybe?
Well...the sounds in that medical thingie where cool...that song on the "mushroom bridge" was a nice touch too... so yeah...not much there...

20%

Quote: " Overall Rating "

Minigamerating: 50 % Cool small FPSC Game that goes other ways than the usual stuff... There is not much in this game, but all I saw was well thought and nicely done. A good minigame

If you jump backwards off that platform where you spawn, you don't die.

Thanks for that rating but really, its nothing to be rated.
It was just a jump at making a quick game in 24 hours like other
people have done in the past.
