I've installed v1.18 beta 1 and get exactly the same error!

-Why didn't God take gaga, justin bieber or kesha instead of Randy Rhoads, Cliff Burton or Dio?

Is not "...checking files for you" a call home to TGC servers type thing ?? If so could it get effected by a bad DNS or something??

No, it just checks your files in your FPSC folder to make sure everything is there and running (Doesn't connect to the TGC Servers) Try running the FPSC cleaner or if you have too many model packs or custom media installed try removing some.

Other thing that could cause it is a very very very very very very very slow PC.

Windows 7, Amd Athlon 7750 Black Editon (64 bit,3ghz + Dual Core), ATI Readon HD 4870 1gb Edition, 4gb Ram.

This can also occur if FPSC Crashes or something and the Map Editor process is still running under processes, just thought I'd put that out there

Mugen is the name pal, Ya got that?

Just open taskmanager and shut your fpsc-mapeditor.exe and then fpscreator.exe. Then it should work. If not update your service pack.

Check for pure horror.
