Help!

I need a cheap graphics card (around £60) that will support dx 9 and vertex shadin.

Rob K recommended geforce fx 5200. Unfortunatly that is an agp graphics card. And i dont have an AGP Slot.

So could people post names of graphics cards that support dx 9 and vertex shadin. (preferably ones that are priced at around £60)
And even beter if they are AGP. Also i cant seem to find the bit on Specification of a graphics card where it says supports vertex shading. How do they say it does vertex shading?

I suggest looking at the DABS.COM web site, and have a search for PCI graphics cards. You will need to look at the spec of each to see if it supports what you want.

yeah i just saw that and i also just saw the one at the bottom
"GeForce FX5200 128MB DDR PCI RP 2xVGA"

That maybe the one i need. although its way more than £50. I suppose thats the penalty that you pay for stinting on £100 for a pc

yeah

er... i cant seem to see Vertex Shading on any specification of graphics card

What do they all it or refer to it as.

and what is Second Generation T&L?

I think you would have to find the relevant details on the nVidia or ATI web site. As for the second question - no idea...

ye see... i'd contact them... but you cant email them:S. they say they dont do end user etc... blah blah and give a list of their retailers who havnt got a clue

i saw a pci one for £80

im gonna enquire localy see if i can get myself a quick job then maybe ill go for somet better depends how they pay

Second Generation T&L is Second Generation Texture and Lighting. It creates better texturing and lighting effects, if the software that you are using supports it. It is not required, but will make newer games possibly look better.

The only cards that support DirectX 9 right now are the Geforce FX series and the ATI Radeon 9800 (maybe the 9700, not sure). Other video cards will work with DirectX 9, but won't take full advantage of its, well, advantages.

Anyway, the Geforce FX 5200 is the cheapest, that is what you should buy. Also, it is the only one available in PCI format. Also, you can get the FX5200 in either 128MB or 256MB versions. Obviously the 128MB is cheaper.

They have lots of video cards.

Thanks Ive decided on the card im getting. its a geforce fx 5200 series. PCI and its £89.00 in pc world. which i have yet to work out how the hell im gonna cough up the money for that. and er... it does pixel and vertex shading 2.0 dx9 compatible ITS WHAT IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!!!!. god dam it it would have been £40 cheaper if i had an agp card... still ... better than no card at all eh?
