The shader looks good, but give it a little less gloss. I wouldn't expect a war-torn stone wall to look like melted candlewax

I reject your stereotype of Wisconsin and, in fact, live in a city.

@ le shorte: Thanks.
About that wall though... thats not actually a wall that will be used in the pack, i just used it to show what my shader can do. Obviously i wouldn't make a stone wall glossy if it were in the desert.
But thanks for the crit anyway. What about Crysis's new media? Did you check that out yet? It's really good...

Hey,
As we see, there is a problem.
We have patience, but we posted our big update 4 hours ago.
So..for some reason..people just dont want to check his site or something.

I really don't want us to have to post all of our screens, because its really pain...

But...if you really don't want to go to his site or you can't find it..we will post some of our work here...for rest..you need to go to Eragon's site.

Screens:

@Eragon007 The depth on that texture is way too much, but the shader is very good.

However I am curious did you try using it in FPS Creator?

@ Gencheff. Thanks for the comment. I don't know why more people don't. Anyway... Ya i know the depth is a little extreme. Again, I just wanted to show what it could do. And no, I haven't had time to try it out in FPSC yet. If i have time tonight I will do so.

Thanks again,

I encourage you to do it,because I had issues with shaders that work well in DBPro , but in FPS Creator they needed some fixing.

Its because there is really nothing to comment on, many shaders even those that come default with DarkShader wont work if simply dropped into FPSC without being rewritten to suit, some simply wont work period, I believe that relief shader is actually one of those.
Without actual in-game screenshots of models and shaders then FPSC users dont have much to go on, if its not seen to be usable they wont comment you would have more chance of crits in the 3dchat section.

Thanks for the tip rolfy. Today is my last day until break so i'll get some ingame pics of my shader in FPSC tonight.
And i wasn't just talking about my shader either. Lol poor crysis hasn't gotten any comments on his media. And there's a lot of it too. I've noticed that i've gotten many hits to my site but for some reason they just don't want to comment on Crysis's media.
Maybe we'll have to get some ingame shots of those too. Idk...

Thanks again rolfy,

I noticed you had a few flags up for show.

If this is kind of a salute to soldiers that served in Iraq, don't forget Korea, Australia and Britain.. and a few others. You can do a search for Coalition Forces to find more.

Also, I would really like to see MIA/POW, KIA flags.

Just a few suggestions from a vet.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the comments. Just so you all know...
I am now the current leader of this pack. Anayar has been very busy lately and has stepped down from his position. But don't worry guys, he's still gona be around. Just not much more for this pack.
This pack would have been released weeks ago, but unfortunitly Crysis hasn't been on in like a month, and I can't seem to get a hold of him. Crysis, if you are reading this... Email me dude! lol Peeps want this pack realeased. (Me too! :-P)
Any way... I am currently compiling my media and finishing off my list. I'm hoping that Crysis has been doing the same.
And their is soooo much more media than shown here, I wish I could show you guys it all. I also don't remember if i told you this already but the first War-Torn Pack will include JUST the arabic/iraq side. The second will be the United States side. The third, if there is one, will include weapons, items, characters, etc.
I think thats it for now. I have also been really busy lately but I will try my best to get ahold of Crysis and have a new media list for you guys and probably some new screens too.

Thanks,
E007eragon

@E007Eragon:

I have sent you multiple e-mails and have not received a reply from you. This is regarding making this pack official and is quite urgent. For some reason, every time I try to email you, I get Google's Mailer Daemon error message. Could you please email me as soon as you see this? I will not be able to come on IM since I got hacked a few weeks ago and am still trying to sort everything out in that area.

Sorry to use this thread as a messenger but I have no way of contacting Eragon.

Cheers,
Anayar

Hey Anayar,
I sent you an email a while ago and was wondering why you didn't reply. Well I guess i know now. Man you really have some bad luck don't you? Fried hard drive and now email hacks. Its horrible!

I was wanting to talk to you too. Um ok i'll send you a message right now. I sent it to your website email. If you cant get on, i recomend just getting a new windows live messenger account.

BTW anayar... I can set up a simple blog or forum on my website if you have no other way of communicating to me. That way you don't have to worry about using this forum for messenger- u can use mine.

PS: MP update comming soon. The pack would have been done by now but i've just been super busy with college and all.

Hey, thanks for your support.

This pack is still WIP, but saddly, it's progress has been SLOW lately- long story and to much to explain.
But it is coming along. I was hoping to have this pack done by now, but obviously that didn't happen. I'm still gona try and give an update soon... I've been texturing all my models lately so i'm hoping to get some screens up soon. i think the big problem with this pack's progress is communiction. It's hard to maintain good communication between 3 people. A tip for furture artists: make sure your team will have good communication before you decide to make a team.

I think that's it. I'm tired. Its 1:30AM. Good Night...

That's right; my shaders will actually test what version of DirectX you have so they should work for almost anyone. However, my shaders are still in the testing phases and I'm looking for any input from the community to make them better."

*sigh* I can spot evolved's shaders a mile away because I've been using them for years now in my own DBP projects.

So forgive me if I don't believe the rest of your media is your own work...

Okay.... i'm gona try and not take your comment to personally here...

You are partly right in that the shaders I created are "evolved". Meaning I took an HLSL shader from ATI and converted it for my FPSC needs, customizing and optimizing as I saw fit- being a fairly good amount. I didn't create this shader from scratch, if thats what you mean. I was planning on eventually doing so, as my testing wasn't going well with the shader conversions... I found out fairly early on, that FPSC doesn't like shaders- My shaders worked beautifully in DBP and DarkShader, but not in FPSC.
I hope that clears that up: The shaders shown were from a converted shader that was adapted for FPSC. I was simply trying out some shading methods to see how they would do in FPSC. I thought they were gona work out which is why I posted the screens. They eventually didn't so now i'll end up having to start over and do it all from scratch.

And as far as the rest of my media goes, it is all made by me. I can give you the in-editor screens if you really want them. I did use some of the textures from cgtextures that were modified but you all know that it's okay to do that. I'm sure you know their licenses and what not. Other than some of the textures being from cg, all my media is 100% created by me.

Any more questions or accusations you want to throw at me?

I can understand this but dear lord! I've been working so hard on this pack, removing any seams in textures, fixing poly counts, making this media perfect for you guys. Then this guy comes in and says, That media isn't yours. I take offense to that. Couldn't you have simply asked me? Not accusing me of something. I mean come on people. This is why people leave FPSC. Just sayin...

I understand your frustration, but unfortunately, that's the nature of the beast, a bad minority, will often spoil things for the good majority.

Please don't let this put you off continuing to contribute to the community. I've been following the progress of this pack since its conception, and am looking forward to seeing the final results

Thanks bruce3371,

Well I can honestly say that this pack may be the biggest yet. After what crysis has shown me today, we will be way in the 1000's of media. He himself has just completed a huge chunk of media. After I finish my part, we will release some screens of our work. This pack is definitly coming to end and should be released fairly soon. Again, thanks for your support bruce.

My first comment was fact. Your screenshot of the shader's you claim as your own are in fact Evolved's, who is a great programmer and has been using DBP for many years. You even used the same brick texture and shader maps to show it off...

My accusation stemmed from the fact you claimed the shader to be yours. If you actually read his license agreement you'd have realized the shaders can be used for commercial use. Instead of getting angry you could have claimed a slight mistake and given due credit...instead you chose to rant.

My second comment was pure personal opinion.

So if you take offense to this then tough beans my friend. I've provided evidence for one issue and it's the only issue I'm pressing. The rest is my personal thoughts and I will not push them on anyone else.

I won't be bothering you again, so good luck in your endeavors whether you believe my sincerity or not.

All I will say here is that I have seen Evans in editor and a lot of his w.I.p shots and I can assure you that all models are completely his. As for the shaders, he had told me earlier himself that these were majorly modified shaders and I could see that he had done most of the work. Please don't accuse him or anyone else on this team of piracy as I take that as a personal insult to myself Josh. If your personal opinions arent constructive please keep them to yourself. Thank You.

Cheers,
Anayar

Oh i see now. Evolved is an acutall person. I'm sorry we seem to have come to a misunderstanding here... Okay i want to make this VERY VERY CLEAR. I did not nor will i ever claim anothers work as my own. The base code I used was taken from ATI, the video card manufacturer. As far as that brick texture and maps, those textures are literally included in almost any GUI based shader making program. I've worked with NVIDIA FX Composer 2 and it was included in that program. The one i used was packeged with the ATI shader that I used. So no. Those textures I used were not this Evloved Person's nor did I use his shader. Everything i used was from ATI. DO you understand josh? I know your not a bad guy, your just looking out for other people too, and I respect that.

This is DEFINITELY alive... just behind the scenes. We have well over 900 models and 100 segments (a couple of characters and a few guns in there for good measure). This will most probably (hopefully, fingers crossed) be released as 2 separate official MP's.

And no, to answer youre question, I am not currently devving for this pack as all my models are on my desktop back stateside. You coudl run over to my house and get them for me lmao

To make buildings fpsc ready? Well, I personally just use a pre-existing model to figure out what the scale will be in FPSC... I hate those do-it-for you programs. Maybe youre models keep crashing because their mesh paths arent assigned correctly?

I think were fine with models, thanks for the offer though
