The sprites looked fine in DBC, but now the look slightly stretched, and slightly blurry. I am running the game in 800x600x16.

Windowed-Full Screen (default setting) / Looks stretched
Windowed-Desktop / No change
Windowed / No Change
Fullscreen Exclusive Mode / Looks much worse. Still stretched and with lots of black spots.

Anyone have any ideas at all.

After you load your image, you need to add a ,1 (like so):
load image "myimage.bmp",image#,1
to prevent any filtering on the sprite. Also, full screen windowed will stretch the window to the desktop resolution, so you should use full screen exclusive

Well windowed fullscreen uses the resolution set in the 'windowed' option and stretches this to your desktop resoltion.

So if in editor, the 'windowed' res is set to 640*480, but radio button is set to Windowed-fullscreen and your desktop resolution is 1024*768, then everything is severly stretched. Just set window res to be same as desktop res.

Fullscreen exclusive should not have that problem though.

Thank for the quick replies.

I tried adding a ,1 after the load image command.
the line now reads:

load image "left.bmp",26,1

but this gives me the error:

#100008: Parameter for 'LOAD IMAGE' do not match 'Filename, Image Number' at line 84

ok, I just upgraded DBPro to 5.1b.

The load image "myimage.bmp",image#,1 works now, except for animated sprites. All sprites originaly created as images look as they should. This tip doesn't work with loading bitmaps. Some of my sprites are loaded as bitmaps so I can place text on them.

However, since going to 5.1b my FPS dropped from 40 to 18!

Here is the newer code.

Is there anything I can change/add to get the speed back to the level it was before updating to 5.1b?

Any ideas for improving the appearance of the animated sprites, or the ones created from bitmaps?

Thanks to those who have helped so far.

NOTE: I didn't cut and paste well. Ignore the first two lines of code in the source.

get image needs the ,1 as well as load image. that should clear up the sprite made from bitmap problem.

As for create animated sprite there are a few bugs in that command at the moment, check the bug forum.
