I'm making a town that does require quite a few entities, which probably explains why half of them aren't even there when I build the game. How can I make FPSC handle more of them, or make the entities more efficient? If not, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Having a good pc helps, but how many do you have in so far?

My Asus Gaming laptop is only a year old, ( but it runs all games on full settings great, and I edit on After Effects on it, so it handles rendering fine. How can I check how many entities I've used? I doubt I've used too many, but when I render half of them aren't there, and all the characters are white outlines?

What I think I'll do is remove everything from my level, and put it in a few pieces at a time. I think my issue was that I spent an hour mashing all the stuff I wanted into the level. If I test more frequently, that will allow me to eliminate entities that are causing more trouble than others. If anyone knows of a more efficient way, let me know

hmm, to be honest I'm not sure what the problem is, but it sounds to me like perhaps a shader/or .fx file is screwing up. NOt sure though.

I think laptops aren't that good for FPSC. Thats one problem.
Also, did you check your graphics card?
Lastly, upgrade to 1.17.

My graphics card is up to date-- I can't use 1.17 because for some reason it crashes when I open it after installing 1.17, I've tried it 3-4 times already, so I'll stick with 1.16 until the next upgrade.

Also I doubt my laptop is the problem, it's pretty strong, it's one of the few laptops I've ever owned that can run Lord of the Rings Online and Modern Warefare 2 at max settings, and it also handles intensive editing problems like After Effects extremely well.

But, this does bring up a new question, will someone with a worse comp/graphics card not be able to see as many entities in the finished game as I might be able to?

Have you tried upgrading to 1.17 from a clean install of FPS Creator 1.0..? It is recommended on the FPS creator website that you install 1.17 from a clean install..

The fact that you upgrade from 1.16 to 1.17 maybe the issue with it crashing..

Search for 'Optimization Guide' for some performance tips

To Squalker- Yes, I actually installed FPS 1.0 off my disk, and then immediatly after instaled 1.17. I'v done this twice actually, so I suppose I'll wait until the next update to upgrade.

to JRH- I'll search that now, but at the moment I'm rebuilding my level a few entities at a time and testing the game each time, so this should help me find out what the problem/limit I'm having

Plus, your graphics card must be able to support shader effects, most of them are PS 3.0. Try turning off shader effects under File-Preferences, see if that does any good. Then run the FPSC Cleaner to clean out DBO and BIN files .

If something is perfect, it probably doesn't work. -PWP

Lower the game resolution a bit, I'm pretty sure that you can do that.

Im re-downloading and installing the new update for the 4th time now, hopefully that'll change something. Also, I have shaders turned off already. I'll look into lowering the res, but would that really do anything? Maybe if i decreased light effects and that type of stuff?

Alright,
I found out that if I run the program as admin the errors go away, so now I am fully updated to the new version, I'll try rendering this level again and see if theres any difference. I'll post back once I've tinkered with the program a bit.

UPDATE-
Alright, the game I was making before seems to be corrupt now, so it looks like I'm stuck re-making it. I'll get working and let you know if I run into problems with the new update

With the new update, it seems to be working much better now, I still do frequent tests, but it seems to work better. I'll post again tomorrow when I see how it handles rendering the full game
