FPSC Classic Models and Media / Blender - Textures don't line up on some exported models

First, thanks again to Kravenwolf for helping point me in the right direction.

I haven't had much time to play with this until this morning. I remade my model and am much happier with the polygon count. My new issue is texturing

I've mapped the object, painted in the textures and put them on the model. Everything looks great in Blender (okay... more like good lol) but when I export the model and put it in Entity Maker it comes out with some lines where the seams are. The texture map is far oversized so it isn't white appearing from that. It just seems to be 1 pixel off here and there.

I made a cube and a few other simple objects to make sure I understand what it is I am supposed to be doing and they all look perfect.

Is there a way to make minute adjustments after the model is built?

Best I can say is to extend the texture areas out a bit with something like a smudge tool or clone tool and that should cover up the seems.

Thanks for the replies. The texture is extended well past the UV map areas. I've even filled the map solid with one color, just a solid blue image, and the white lines still appear.

Attached is the UV map overlaid on my texture. This is not the texture itself. Its just to show that it is, in fact past the edges.

Hey anayar,

I appreciate that but I want to know how to fix it. I want to learn and not just have someone do it for me.

If you want to take a look and tell me what I've done wrong that would be awesome!

Thanks again to all!

The .x format can be a bit of a bugger at times and shift your texture map over a bit, so the best rule is to keep a bit of an over lap when UV mapping. Try not to map to the very edge of your texture, or textured area's of your UV Map and you should be ok (i.e. allow a slight boarder of texture around your polygons on your map).

"a bit of a bugger" is being kind hehe! Anyhoo thanks, NBT, but I did what you mentioned with the borders. I'm pretty certain It is an alignment problem.

Thanks to anayar too for taking the time to assist me. It is greatly appreciated!

Rodent: Sorry for the delay... I'm driving to a party right now and my girlfriend had to take me out shopping before that, so I was not able to touch my pc this entire evening...

Sorry, I'll do it Tom. as soon as I can

Cheers,
Anayar

Heh, thanks man! But it isn't the party that bugs me... It's the shopping before it

Trust me, no man will ever understand a women mind... What purse matches with what high heel and all that crap (but then again, her mind isn't exactly the part of her body I want to understand)!

Cheers,
Anayar

Alright, I took the liberty of making turning the cork into metal... the UV Map was screwed up, so part of the cork texture was on the potion itself, and if cork was on the potion it looked wierd... so I made it metal...

Screeny:

Tell me if you dont like it that way (I think it looks like a mix of fantasy and modern )

I have attached a few files for you:
the obj, the X file, the redone UV Map Template in .bmp and .xcf, and the redone UV Map in .jpg and .dds.

Hope this helps you, and let me know if you still need a tut

Cheers,
Anayar

P.S: The UV Map was done extremely fast, and does not look as good as I hoped. I have added the files for you to customize it as you wish

Ok here is your potion bottle without the seams, using your texture.
I converted it to dds and added a slight transparency to the glass.

You can still use your original .jpg, as I have not altered your texture.

Your models unwrapped polygons were not aligned right with the textured areas of your UV Map was all, nothing drastic. Just slipping over into the white and cork parts.

Oh, I fixed the one he posted. Not that there was really much to fix, just misaligned polygons is all.

Thanks to both of you! Now that I know it was a misalignment I am going to fool with it and see if I can make it right myself. Anayar, I shall let you know if I am (hopefully!) successful. If not, I can at least hang my head in shame and use these two examples
