Load the Database Project
Load the Database Project is open to anyone who wishes to participate. The basic idea is to get more media into the model database. This will give the opportunity for members to request models while giving modelers a chance to practice their skills and add to their portfolio.

Requesters:
Requests should be made in a format similar to this:
-Object / Model Requested
-Short Description or link to reference image
-Polygon / Textures size limits

Modelers:
Modelers who complete requests will need to post the requested model created and attach a zip file containing all media to their post. Please also state if the model is complete, contains UVdata, is textured, number of triangular polygons and if it is animated.

I will update this post as requests are made and completed. If you do not know or can't be bothered to add a model to the database I will do it for you.

Thanks to everyone and I hope this thread is useful for the entire community.

Models Requested:

This was the second part of the database plan if you remember

I think advertising over on the fpsc side of the forums would attract alot of attention, but we'd also get the irrating types of requests aswell

Im up for some play in my free time anyway

i want to be the first... mm.. let see, could you make me a character? or another thing..

well

Character:
Private Detective

Anims?:
FPSC skeleton rigged or somewhat animated

Reference images.

Polygons:
800-2.000

Texture Size:
1024x768
512x512
1024x1024

All the above would be nice, the decition of which, is up to the creator

What i want with this, is a low poly PS1 Quality model
in the face texture i would like that Classic Blur that appear in most Ps1 Characters Faces

I was going to sticky the thread, but I think people have a tendancy to ignore the stikies, so I shall mark this as "offensive" to highlight it.

Mailback. I'll probably contribute now that Blender's actually working on my Win7. Can't do characters, though, sorry James .

-I need a Railgun type weapon. Animated would be nice, but not necessary if it's easier on the modellor...

I'll let them have creative freedom on it as well, so long as it looks like a railgun, looks kinda functional - and obviously, it has to look awesome...

Something like this but less bulky and cumbersome - my game's set in the future, so it needs to be refined and high-tech looking.

4-6K poly limit, with 1024* probably being the texture limit as well.

Nah Quick, I think that's enough info to go on. I'd say when requests are vague like that then design is at the modeler's discretion.

yes yes offcourse, might have come off a bit rough.. more references than that would be appreciated though, as it eases up for the modeller^^

Yeh I need to get cracking on that. Just moved flats (again) today, so after I have unpacked everythig tomorrow I will update it.

Thinking of creating an off-site version aswell, but more details on that soon.

Started on the Railgun. Kinda made it into a beast. Haven't model a gun in many years, let alone designed one. Should come out interesting. Still needs a few more items to make it look functional and then off to UVmapping.

Josh, just some c&c , i think thats a good start but it needs more features, a less blocky grip/scope. Im just saying i know your doing this for someone else for free but its kind of like, just cuz people are homeless doesnt mean they want muffins without the tops.

(xD sorry CG not referring to you as a hobo, just saying.)

just put some more details and some smoothing and it will be good

I started a railgun a few days ago, I'm kinda just making a compact version of the pic posted though. We'll see how they turn out .

Bmac, thats coming nicely but i think that would be awkward to carry as the end looks heavy and you have the two grips at the beginning.
I would just suggest moving the grip further down

I wanted something more like this. But I like what you have. Add a laser beneath the eye and its good to go. New pic.

See, this is why you give as much information as you have. If you want something specific, you should say it, even if it seems obvious to you.

EDIT: By the way, you're stretching the page, can you scale that down?

EDIT2: MMOJ, that's actually a pretty neat model. You might consider still posting it in case anyone else has a use.

Both railguns are looking awesome - I'm spoilt-for-choice like a hobo with a cardboard box and a bench.

Update:
http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq18/bmaczero/3DModels/railgun2.png
Anyone got any comments? I've got polycount to spare, it's only 600 right now, but darned if I know what to do with it. Could just leave it low-poly.

CG: Do you want hands with that?

I dont know, but i think you need a different grip, it just looks odd. And maybe add a magazine on the side of the weapon kind of like a sten ? idk just blurting ideas

Oh and i just gave up on the robot as too many mesh errors. I have a bad technique.

you could add a scope(like an iron site or a red dot) to the top of it

Hmm, maybe more square of a grip then. That blocky thing perched on top is a scope, did you mean something else?

I'm liking the gun Bmac, it's for a TPS project, so hands aren't necessary. But the scope ideas everyone else has been talking about would be pretty awesome if it's okay with you. I don't wanna ruin your input on the model.

Ah, TPS, got it . I'm open to ideas about the scope, but the only one I've heard so far was asking that I add a scope, which I already had. Confused .

lol sorry i didn't notice that you posted a link to a new pic rather then as an attachment. any it looks good i think it could use a little more detail though. maybe add an indent in the front and back. i can't say that i like your model being so square. but that's just personal preference other then that good job so far.
