So I used FPSC a while ago, if I remember correctly, I think it was around version 1.0.

I'm just curious to know whats changed. Well, actually, if the graphics have. I'm thinking about getting the latest version of FPSC x9 because I loved making games with FPSC.

There was just one problem, when I created a map and played it: It looked downwright wretched. I'm not hoping for it to look like Crysis now or anything.

TLDR: I'm just wondering if the graphics have slightly improved or is there a tutorial on how to use shaders to do this?

Thanks !

Shaders

- Normal mapping
- Specular mapping
- Animated textures

Post processing

There are other object and full screen shaders around the forums.

@eNergy it's not all about the graphics I mean look at halo pc/combat evolved or doom 1 and 2 they were so awsome people still play them today it's not about the graphics it's about the gameplay and story also crysis (from what I heard) had awsome graphics but had a really bad story and bad gameplay and people did not like that.

I'm making a game called Rouge Soldier

There is no definitive answer if gameplay, graphics or story are the most important ingredient for a game.

They are all important and the best games do all 3 well but its purely down to personal preference how you prioritise each of them.

Graphics are very important in modern games both technically and in style.

Doom 1 and 2 had no story but the graphics and gameplay were great.

Halo: CE had pretty amazing world textures for it's time, and most people I know think Crysis's gameplay was pretty good.

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

From my perspective, I have tried fps creator when it was originally released, a year or 2 in and now. It has vastly improved. For one PC's have come along a fair bit and so can run the native DB code a lot faster than at time of release. Secondly FPS Creator has improved alongside DB Pro, which I have used since release, again making it way better as time has progressed. Thirdly, you need to check out some peoples creations. I have played a demo of Doom 3 which was fairly stunning considering its FPS origins. It ran a little slow at the time, but I am convinced it would run at pretty much full speed now on modern systems. Looked for a download recently to try on my system, but it seems they are dead .
In my opinion, and that's why I just bought this product (again), lol, just got the bonanza package. FPS Creator makes a great First Person Adventure engine. Or at least I hope it will (not got into scripting yet).
