Just wondering, because I am guilty of this myself. For example, in the game I am currently developing, I kept getting the 'Waiting for Threads to Finish' problem when I tried to test my level. My first instinct was to blame FPSC, calling it every name under the sun!

No matter what I tried, I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I re-installed FPSC numerous times, updated to 1.18b1, reverted back to 1.17. I tried removing entities that were likely to be causing the problem, I moved light markers that I thought were conflicting with certain entities. You name it, I tried it!

After about a week of increasing frustration, blaming FPSC and making ever more desperate pleas for help, I finally decided to sit down, and systematically go through the entire level, to try and see what the problem was. The next thing I tried was different settings in the preferences and build game settings.

Finally, after a full 2-3 hours of this, I finally realised what the problem was! It was nothing to do with FPSC, the version I had installed, or the media I was using. It was simply this; my old(ish) PC can't handle full light mapping!!

So, has anyone else had an experience like this, when things have gone wrong, they have blamed FPSC even though it wasn't FPSC causing it?

PS Sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forums.

I game therefore I am.

Ooooohhhhh Yeahhhhh. I blame me first, always. Everything about doing anything -- especially with computers -- is trial and error

However, this is probably going to be another flame-bait thread. I hope not, but it has the earmarks for it.

I reject your reality and substitute my own!

I hope it doesn't become a flame-bait thread, as that wasn't my intention. In fact, at the end of my post, I acknowledged that there is nothing wrong with FPSC, it was my PC that was at fault.

But you're right, trial and error is the best way to find any solution, it's how I found out that it was my PC causing my problems.

I game therefore I am.
