i have just done the stock and am moving n to the receiver now
the coulour on the stock isnt a texture its the smoothing from blender

looks good but i am leaning towards you starting over or fixing the tris into quads, because tris have smoothing problems

Quads are better for smoothing than tris.

i used the tris to quads tool in blender and i didnt see any difference

Smoothing .... like, when you subsurf
most next gen models should be as many quads as you can get over tris.

Seems your using a load of primitives to build the mesh. I'd say start with something easier and learn to poly-model.

i used 5 cubes and 2 cylinders and filled in the rest by selectring all verts and pressing f

sections 2/3/4 should be together maybe even 1 should be too, but thats up in the air of personal preference.

Nice work, you've improved on modeling. You should take some time to practice smooth groups though, that would make this gun shine.

mm looking good, but i would highly suggest bridging those faces that are different meshes. It will make smoothing go alot easier and its just good practice overall.

Some parts seem really blocky like the hand grip and front area of the UMP. Try chamfering or stacking polys.

hahah i asked the same question when i first started, its like smoothing, it divides the angle of the selected edge in half and adds a face at the mid angle inbetween.

well you have to have at least one edge selected.

and i dont know about blender (i use max now)
but i did a quick google and check this link out.

unfortunatly i had to reinstall windows and i didnt have a back up of any of my models so i have lost them all so i will be restarting this
