A Few Hours ago i made a Sniper Rifle and it is 4,924 Polygons
and i am giving it away for free, it's not textured. I made it blender in about 30 minutes, if you want a specific format, then just tell me and i will export it for you and put it up for download. Please give feedback and be honest.
There is a screenshot attached.

Ok if your calling that done, i would delete some parts and redo it.

The scope, the handle, and the barrel have WAY TO MANY polies.

But you left the body of the gun with like 20 polys?

i know im being harsh, but you put smoothness where it wasnt really needed as much, and left places bone dry.

The grip looks like i couldnt grab onto it.

Sorry to be short, but they are very necessary changes.

exactly what he said ^

the barrel could be done using a 12 or approx a 14 sided cylinder! same with the scope

@Travis, I think the model looks good, theres too many polys in it tho, The scope and barrel you should change to a 10 sided cylinder, it will look basically the same and it will still look good rendered
hey constructive critism never hurt anyone

yeah, i would decrease the polies but whenever i add the decimate modifier then it says "non Manifold Mesh as input" i hate that, i just have no idea why it does it, i could probally delete the barrel and the scope and try again.

i just finished re doing them, i replaced the 23 poly cylinders with 10 poly ones and that help alot, by over 2000 polies now it is
2230 polygons, i also smoothed out the handle alot and made it better without increasing the polygon count. here is the new model.

The stock is bugging me a bit.It probably contains all the polys unless you have unnecessary polys. I would like you to post a better wire frame because the blender wireframe viewing mode doesn't really show all the polys.

Ok the subdivision on the stock looks wrong and out of place.

I made my own to show you what you can do, and it only comes out at 130 polys.

And the handle isnt really smoothed.still looks like a wooden block.

here is the stock i made in 5 minutes.

And here is an example of a more grip-able grip. xD
its only 122 polygons.

heh sorry for writing free handed in paint
you just made it to fat at the back and you need to lower it or the guy will be looking over the scope.

and try to chamfer the bottom rail of the stock (where it connects to the gun)

I hope your using a reference picture if not please do. That will fix your stock problem so you know the scale, location and look.

Yes, please find a reference image. It looks like you are trying to model something with just a general idea and no real understanding on the technicalities of firearms.

Good lord.

Not everything has to be so technical.

For all we know maybe he could be making his own weapon with the general concept of a .50 cal.

Stop flaming.

Technicality is what makes the model believable, especially weapons.

And I'm not flaming, I'm just tell him what I think needs to be done to make it a better model.

you should be modeling off of multiple reference pictures especially with popular weapons such as your .50

however that can be hard when starting out.

better finding a rather decent reference and go from there.

Well i didnt mean he has to set his perspective view to 45 degrees then go find a 45 degree angle ref pic, i meant he should look at a whole lot of pictures to give his mind a better picture of what it should look like.

Because it looks like his proportions are of just a little bit, and it is because he is limiting himself to just 1 picture.
