I have 18 gigs of ram in my new PC and i know it is anused cause FPSC dont have a 64 bit version as i know..Is there any way to use more ram?Or is FPSC ever going to have a 64 bit version???I think it would be very good for Game creating to have the power of using all available ram and Cpu etc..

Sorry to burst you bubble but a pc can only effinctly use 4 gigs of ram if your using 32 bit os, and no 64 bit lee said so

Who the hell is General Failure? And why is he trying to read my hard disk?

My software never has bugs. It just develops random features.

Its the architecture of 32bit programming. they have a limit.
No one can change this. Programs have to be written by the specs of the operating system they are designed to run on.

The program does run super fast on my vista quad machine. almost 4 times as fast as on my dual processor machine.

Well to tell you the truth,18 gigs of ram is....UBER OVER KILL...seriously,even in some proper workstations, the max amount of ram is about 8-10gb. You can't even place so much stuff in FPSC to fill 4gb of ram.

From what I know that 5gb or more only works with the Window Servers, not the normal versions, 32-bit or 64-Bit. I may be wrong though, I was never that interested in finding out

Windows 7, Amd Athlon 7750 Black Editon (64 bit,3ghz + Dual Core), ATI Readon HD 4870 1gb Edition, 4gb Ram.

I just bought a PC with 18 gigs of ram intel i7 and two graphics cards that have they own CPUs or smthng i speended 2200 euros only for the tower..As a HD an 4k movie editor i had to buy this kinda PC and i see it runs really fast....I have 64 bit processor and Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit..I know that 32 bits dont recognize more than 4 gigs 3.2 exactly...I upgraded all my softwares to 64 bit and saw a huge difference especially in 3d rendering of an HD scene where with my previous 2 gigs ram PC would take let's say an hour now it takes 4-5 minutes max...It just would be nice to have a 64 bit version but i think the coding would be really harder...

As far as I'm aware, no program will use your 18 Gb, it's not just overkill, it's plain silly...

This rig here's doing fine on 32bit with 4.5Gb RAM. Just need to get a new GFX card and it'll be a pretty good PC, seeing as it's handled everything I've thrown at it so far...

As far as I can see though, RAM has little bearing on performance as much as your processor or GFX card when it comes to games...

If you have such an amped up PC, why not move onto a 64bit Development engine like CryEngine, Source or UDK. You'll have wasted all that money for next to no benefit otherwise because the limits are in FPSC, so it'll perform just as well for you as before anyway.

Your signature has been erased by a mod please reduce it to 600 x 120.

If you need 18gb RAM to run your FPSC levels, you shouldn't be a level designer.

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

@CoffeeGrunt

Exactly, no program uses 18gb of ram, 4gb is acturly enough to run anything. Not even a PS3 uses more then 4gb for it's memory I can't be 100% sure though because I don't own any consoles exept a PSP and a Wii that I my brother mostly uses.

Windows 7, Amd Athlon 7750 Black Editon (64 bit,3ghz + Dual Core), ATI Readon HD 4870 1gb Edition, 4gb Ram.

Yes, 18GB is slightly overkill. Even if you could run the games you make you wouldn't likely be able to find many people that could, or many people that would wait half an hour for it to load.

In fact it has no more than 256MB of memory.

Consoles always have pretty low specs compared to pc's. !* gigs of ram is only going to benefit for 3ds max renders and such. Still always useful, won't be short of memory, when doing lots of tasks.
