Hi,

You can now register your entries to the Alienware Competition by clicking on the Profile navigation icon (while logged-in) and there you will see the link you need. At the moment the registration system takes some basic details about your game but it will be expanded the closer we get to the deadline to allow on-line submission of your final entry.

Cheers,

Rich

At the moment the list is internal to TGC only. I am un-decided if I will make it public or not, obviously final games will be listed.

Cheers,

Rich

Rich, could you set up a running total of how many games have been registered?

Froggermon, there was a mention somewhere that this info is internal to TGC only, and they are debating whether to make it public.

Anyone know how many entries there were last time?

Last time about 140 "registrations" and 95 final entries I believe.

Cheers,

Rich

There was another thread where Rich said it was simply to satisfy his curiosity, or words to that effect.

My estimate is that the entrys for this compo would be around 200-300

but thats just my crazy guess.

My site is delyaed for the 250th time!

Hi Rich. I haven't been around for ages, but hopefully now I will be getting back into the Darkbasic-pro stuff again. Compo looks interesting, and I would like to make an entry (if I still have time!). To make life MUCH easier, do you know if the BSP compiler is up and running yet? Oh, and does DBDN still exist? If so, how do I re-subscribe - I can't find any links for it!

Cheers,

Conrad.

I don't think we'll get 200, I reckon it will be a similar number than the last compo. Maybe even around 50 or so, but of higher quality than before. That's pure speculation of course. Going on registrations alone I would be checking over 200 games, but we all know that only 1 out of 3 will actually be finished.

Cheers,

Rich

yes, i agree with rich - i think there will be less people entering this comp than the last comp. i think the competition is more challenging this time actually, as you have to come up with a completely original game.the standard of games is also improving from competition to competition

Rich,

Just wondering, are you gonna do a little review thing for each game again? - you probably don't want to after the workload on the retro comp, but I'd certainly appreciate it, it's difficult to get honest feedback.

Besides, if Raven enters then I have to know who's entry is better - the loser has to walk around the forum in their underware.

Van-B
P.S. Good luck to everyone entering (except Raven).

Van - it depends on the number of entries. The problem is that the compo ends just 14 days before I'm on holiday for my wedding and honeymoon. So it's very possible that I will do reviews of the winners and a "select" few others and then do all the rest when I return. They will all get little reviews eventually, just maybe not all at the start. Time will tell.

Cheers,

Rich

Rich,

Quick check - have you posted how to submit our entries, yet? Newsletter 9 et. al. all indicate how to register, but I haven't seen anything about actually submitting the final entry...

Quick question on the compo rules. The rules state that the "play it on alienware" banner must be displayed on the title page. I am wondering if that is set in stone, as a lot of WIP posts I've seen have it incorporated other places. I have it displayed during the intro sequence, on a credits page, and on the loading screen.

Is the "title page" rule set in stone?

I think you just need to have it displayed so that it is visable "off-game.(like the main menu, or when your game loads you have a 3 second splash screen). Not sure, but that's the impression I've got. Others are just probebly putting it elsewhere for their own reasons.

will the entries be available for download after the deadline? or do we have to track down websites for every entry so we can try them ourselves? I want to try out all of the entries but I doubt everyone will post a link in the forums to their completed entry...

That's gonne get you put in front of the firing squad.

Think about it...if TGC host a download of your game on their site, they could be liable for copyright breach too. They can't be seen to be condoning copyright theft, even if it is just a sound byte or 2.

There's hundreds of free wavs on the net...get searching!

yes it a copyright breach,

you can ues copyright media chack works but you can`t give that media out to any one else in any form.

so you start off whit half-life models and sounds for your own demos , but you most take out all of them befor entering the game.

your can ever show us screen shot uesing them becos that a copyright breach.
