There are no rules regarding the use of DLLs. I have never used them, so please bear with me if I am technically off-centre.

Can they be used?
Can 3rd party DLLs be used?
How about standard Windows DLLs?
Should there be a rule regarding ownership should a 3rd party DLL written by a DB coder be used?

I realise there is a rule regarding ownership and use of media, but libraries aren't media.

I realise there is a rule regarding installation routines, but if a DLL requires installation (don't know, never used them), I'm sure it could easily be done covertly as a startup check.

Hi,

1) Yes they can be used.

2) See above.

3) See above.

4) No. If you wrote it, you own it. If you downloaded it, then I trust the DLL was already freely available and is allowed to be distributed with programs. If you paid for it then check the license that came with it.

5) The game should not install in any manner on the target PC, that includes DLLs. You can however register them on start-up (DLL registration that is, following me?). I just don't want to see InstallSheild wizards popping up all over the place.

Cheers,

Rich

Thanks Rich. Now I just need to read up on how to use them

Finally made the grade...from DBC, to Alienware demo, to full product! Managed to find a second hand copy in my budget on Amazon. 3 kids puts a serious dent in your wallet, but it won't stop me
