For those who don't know, this cryptic error message often appears when you try to return a variable from a function with:

exit function <Variable>

instead of:

exitfunction <Variable>

I confess it's simple typing error I often make Try it without a return variable and you get the correct error message.

Er... Actually I don't have any exit functions OR exitfunctions. I took them all out and replaced them with gotos (there were only like 2) and it still does it. There must be some other cause.

Yeah I have that problem from VB with things like

Exit Function
End Type
End Sub
etc...

Hmmm (scratches head), I'm unable to recreate the error using just gotos.
Looks like I am easily confused over this one.

To be honest I rarely use gotos, Any chance we can view the source?

I think I might have had a function declared twice somewhere. I reverted back to the previous day's code and the problem "went away" so...

I just wonder what actually is supposed to trigger that error...

Even though this is not a bug as such, I've just posted "unhelpful error with exitfunction" in the bug forum. If accepted we might see a proper error message in patch 6 (fingers crossed).
