You should take a look to these projects by Balagrius, they have source code:

very cheap homemade webcam range finder (LIDAR) in DarkGDK

webcam programmed to 'see' through a cloth [DarkGDK]

It seems perfectly possible to obtain information from the webcam output.
Good luck

All of that posts useless. First use LIDAR instead of webcam. Second (ttp://rapidshare.com/files/188922128/invcloth.rar) expired!

if you have a webcam opened, you need to "get" the current image or current frame.. no matter what you'll end up with , you will have to examine each frame alone, it dosent mean that you need to save or load the file.. but that maybe a quick temporary for calculation .

can you load the webcam from within the DarkGDK window , or another window while running DarkGDK?

what do you have so far?

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd757692.aspx

AVICap is part of the windows API, documented there. You can get realtime video data in a very simple format using only those functions. (I have used this API in the past successfully)
