it took me about 30 times of rereading that page:
http://www.policyalmanac.org/games/aStarTutorial.htm
and i finally gave up on it, then during class during our most boring lesson ever and me as usual day dreaming (most likely about some game if i was that person IRL in that situation) and then suddenly it clicked, and i just started programming randomly into notepad (we work on pcs), got home, didnt even look at my code i did at school, but it was still so vivid now in my head that i managed to scrap all the work i had been doing previous, start fresh, and i got the system working in an evening.
Took me a few days to get it with decent fps though, but i managed to do it.
Its just like sometimes at school you have completely no idea what the teachers are yappin about but then some lesson it finally clicks and makes sense. Now i look at a* pathfinding as if its a doddle, i dont see how paying for someone to explain it will help.
I also read alot of tutorials but
http://www.policyalmanac.org/games/aStarTutorial.htm is by far the best.
Smoke me a kipper, ill be back for breakfast.
