Hi In my upcomming game I use nightvision
al I did was make a plain object and attach it to the screen
and then texture it with a green colored image and then I ghosted it
this worked fine and gave really good results but then I upgraded my DBP to the latest version and then it kinda didn't work any more

you se the plain object that was ghosted became to much ghosted so theres almost no green color left...

does any one else have this problem and how do one solv it?

or do anyone know a better way of making a nightvision effekt?

thank's

1. Use Transparency settings or...
2. Make your night vision plain texture as a PNG and set the transparency in the texture itself.

if you set it in the PNG you can do some cool effects with scan lines and a limited FOV on the plane. Are you upping the ambient light at all when the night-vision is on? I hate to see people have night-vision be darker than normal vision.

... or you could rotate your plain 180 degrees around the y axis.

Originally, plains were created the wrong way round (the normals were pointing away from the camera in normal usage). This was fixed for this release.

try

the 4 is for ghost effect, I think this was the effect that kept the texture colors, you can play around with the FADE OBJECT command in combination with GHOST OBJECT ON command to set transperency of the plane.

Is this the case for the Alienware demo? I gave up making my hud with plains because they didn't appear, no matter what I did.

Never mind, full version should be here by Thursday.

Yeah, Mussi is right, "ghost object on objnum, 4" is the old Ghost Object setting. I recall when I converted my Sun Flare code to DBP, the sun flares were too faded because I was using just "Ghost Object On" but as soon as I added the 4 it worked normally again.

make a color an alpha channel ie black and then paint it over your plain image at 50% opacity.

It's enough to make you wonder if your on the right planet!!! or

I'd put a green semi-transparent sprite over the whole screen.

You might want to consider disable object zdepth if you want to make enemies show up behind walls.

Yes, heat vision would be quite a bit harder to do.
