Aim: To produce a lightmapped, (mostly) outdoors, landscape setting with some buildings/houses that can be entered by the player.

Problem: If I construct this world in Mapscape (thus also enabling easy lightmapping), it exports all 'objects' to a single .dbo or .x file. When loaded into DBPro & collision system (Sparky's) is active, the player cannot enter the buildings, as they are seen as solid hills (I presume).

Am I missing a really obvious solution? Are all world editors going to produce the same issue?

(Info: The original landscape and house were dbo files, inserted into Mapscape as objects - ie, not created within Mapscape from scratch, if this is relevant.)

What code are you using to setup the objects with sparkys, and what code are you using to detect the collision?

Attached is an example exported dbo from mapscape. It was constructed from 2 objects: 1x terrain, 1x arch. The export 'merges' them into a single file.

I used Sparky's to 'SetupComplexObject' and then used my collision code which works fine elsewhere. I can post example if you think that's a potential problem area, but my assumption is that this is not the issue.

Try raycasting through the middle of the arch to make sure its not your collision code. Odds are - if you're using sphere collision or something - the sphere's too big.

That object seem to work fine for me, I have attached the project that I used to test it.

RC - Having now eaten a rather large humble pie with a Trilby side dish, you were absolutely correct in the first place ref my collision code being at fault.

Lost in the depths of time, I had a collision 'system' that worked for a world created directly in DBPro (ie seperate terrain & independent objects). Replacing these items using the .dbo file created in a map editor [as a trial] unsurprisingly required mods to the original collision code - but I failed to see it.

Thank you (& Neuro Fuzzy) for your assistance.

Habits can get you into trouble sometimes (unless you are a nun....)
