I have installed Directx 9.0c (or at least I think I have) on the other PC. My current laptop ran the program in Vista and now quite happily under Windows 7, but the other PC with XP just comes up with an error before any screen appears.

1. Can some one please point me to the correct Directx 9.0c files that are needed.

2. Anything else I need to check ?

I have "installed" this program on my lap top to another location under Program Files and it still works.... HELP !

3. Do I have to make sure DLLs are all in the righ directory, some I know have to be in the userplugins and some not.

If you just put up 9.0c onto an earlier DX version, there will be at least one missing DLL, which was called d3dx9_35.dll in my case... but i'm not sure this is your problem, if you don't get an error message pointing to this specific file. Give it a try, it belongs to System32 under the Windows folder. There are various places you can get these dll's, Google it/them.

You need to download and install the NEWEST version of DirectX 9.0c (link) and that will install ALL the DX files you need.

All other .dll's needed by the project can be left in the project directory with the .exe file (I believe)

it should be placed in the same directory as your application, and yes, it is compatible with Vista
