[MOD EDIT]
DJ Almix, your wish is granted

This is not an official TGC competition, but it is a TGC-supported competition. Any banners deemed suitable will be added to the banner rotation. please be wary of quality when designing your banners, this is a commercial site

I'll set a deadline of Midnight 24th October 2010.

This gives you time to create your banners...
DJ Almix to make them available all in one place please - on an accessible server or in a zip file where they can be easily picked up (e.g attached to a post here)...
TGC to pick and deploy the banners...
Me time to add to the newsletter
[/MOD EDIT]
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Banner Template

(Click on the icon to the program you own for the template)
You don't have to use this template at all!

[/href]

Rules:

1. The image must be 459x60

2. The image theme must center around the forums

3. It can be an internet meme, but still must center around the forum theme such as this one:

4. All artwork must be original. Artwork is not any images from a meme/game. Banners can contain TGC related things, such as program icons, screenshot, ect. like this banner:

5. Try to add a black fadeout gradient on the left side of your images so it flows with the webpage

6. Try to create a modern funny image, the current ones are very old school, think about what's "in" today for nerds and geeks

7. Save as .JPG only, no other formats (this includes animated .GIF's)

How will the images be chosen?

Images will be chosen based on voting, if you submit an image you MUST vote for another image (no voting for yourself) and if you post in this thread you can vote also. Voting only happens three times per person.

How many images will be chosen?

Just put in one gaint .ZIP file by me and sent

I don't have an image program...

Here are some free (and powerful tools):

Paint.NET
GIMP
Pixlr

Here's an example of what I came up with that is more modern:

Yep, great, I'm in! But what are the rules? And, what's there to win?

How big are these banners? > never mind, I already know!

What you'd win is your banner on the TGC forums.

But I don't think we need them, not until there's a forum update at least. (Seems unlikely.) Something significant, like a PM system or image shrinker.

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

What do you mean by 'image shrinker'? That would require TGC to host the sig images on their server.

You can alter the displayed size of an image on a web page, that's probably what he was referring to. Alternately I'd like to see large images given a scrollbar like other forum software.

shrinking of images would be nice so it doesn't stretch the page width, thats happened on my posts recently and it gets annoying having to scroll side to side.

Anyway, whats wrong with the old banners, take this one for example, i think its an excellent likeness of Batvink

Is it okay if I used this image with it? http://www.pulsarmedia.eu/data/media/14/NASA_-_The_Andromeda_Galaxy_M31_Spyral_Galaxy.jpg

Edit: Also, are we allowed to update/change our entry once we've posted it?

That looks much better.

Anybody remember that video with the nutcase screaming "YOU AIN'T GOT NO PANCAKE MIX!"? I'm thinking a banner that says "TGC: We do have pancake mix".

Well that would cause scaling issues if we just put in a fixed width and height for all sig sizes. That, and the full banner image would still be downloaded so it wouldn't help when we remove a sig because the file size is too large.

Is the "wher" intentional?

One for the internet meme fans.

And Jeku, image resizing for images, not signatures.

Get rid of the "without a good reason" or "pointless", being as they both mean the same thing.

or... "created 100 pointless threads"

come to think of it, the second sounds better xD

Yours looks great too! But, I think you should place the TGC logo vertically centered, and adjust the text accordingly.

Here's another I came up with. Simple, but catchy, I think.

@The Slayer:
What are you using to create the images? The text quality is rather low, so you might want to try another photo editing program.

Hum, do you mean the word 'nerd' that is kinda pixalized? I don't think it's the paint programs that I use. I have The Gimp, Paint.Net and PSP. The size of the text is rather low in order for the whole text to fit on one line. That's probably what causes it. And the effects I use after the text is written. But, I'll redo the word 'nerd'.

Here's another one that I like a lot:
