Hi, I used to run DBpro on Windows XP. Just upgraded to Windows 7 (64-bit) recently and try to run DBpro. I can compile with no problem but when I tried to run the game that I compiled, I got this "D3DX9_39.dll missing on the system" error.

When I check my directory at C:\Windows\SysWOW64 I can see D3DX9_39.dll is there, but it not located at C:\Windows\System32

I presumed that DBpro is trying to compile my game into a 64-bit executable hence it cannot find D3DX9_39.dll. Is there anywhere to instruct the compiler to run and compile in 32-bit mode?

Or am I wrong about this? Please advise. Thanks!

I believe if you got to the entire forum search just below this thread and type d3dx9 in there, you'll find a whole bunch of people with a similar problem, and possibly some links to the missing dll.

Not trying to be mean... I think I asked the same question too.

Have you taken a look at the compatibility thread yet?

Thanks for the input. I had tried to read thru the compatibility thread. Initially I was a bit hesitated on trying to install the DirectX updates as told. I don't really like to install unnecessary updates or files on my PC. But after hours of searching for solution, it really left me no choice but to try it out, and guess what, it works, though does not make sense to me. Technically, there is already this file under the 32-bit system folder.

Oh well.... I guess I will leave that as it is at the moment.
