Well, XP$ is a string. If you wanted to add the numeric value of two strings... That would be weird o.O
Also... I'm not really sure why you're using ;
to be honest I didn't even know that was valid code o.O (apparently it is!)
Try something like this:
Rem Project: Dark Basic Pro Project
Rem Created: Tuesday, October 05, 2010
Rem ***** Main Source File *****
Input "Last Name>> ",Last$
Input "First Name>> ",First$
Input "Nickname>> ",Code$
XP=0
for n=0 to 2
Rem requires the XP system to work out the Rank system
Rem Ive already got some of the Rank system down
Rem just a example of the overview of what i know
If XP= 0 then Rank$= "Pvt"
If XP= 1 then Rank$= "Sgt"
If XP= 2 then Rank$= "Cpt"
Print "Welcome to the game: "+Rank$+". "+First$+" '"+Code$+"' "+Last$
Print "Rank Points: "+str$(XP)
Wait Key
inc XP
next n
If you haven't already, look at DBPro help -> principles -> datatypes and variables
[edit]
actually that whole "principles" section is pretty important.
