I made a video tutorial of how to rig a foot/leg in blender 2.49b
This is my first ever tutorial and its something simple, something to give a somewhat in depth look into rigging for beginners... There are more advance ways of doing such a rig in blender 2.5/the new blender... But I haven't found a way to understand the new blender setup... I dont know how to delete a window hahahaa drives me nuts but when I figure all of it out ill make a video tutorial of the new ways to rig in the new Blender...

All in all its for starters... Give it a look if you plan on learning some blender rigging...

you'll learn IK some FK and copy rotation!

Thanks, and hope this can help new blender users...

I was thinking I should show an image of the finished result
Because the tutorial is like 20min long and you would have to forward the entire video to see what you are going to make and Vimeo dosen't allow anything but what is loaded to be foreword.

Hey thanks Link, I'm sorry I forgot to mention that its 2.5B thats driving me nuts. There seams to be no way to delete a window in that version.

been a while since i loaded it, but i think there were some dots in the window's corner you just click and drag the one you want to keep over the window you want to expand it over.

Ok the video is compressing to HD and then Vimeo will take like an hour to process, so in about 2 1/2 more hours and ill have the video up. It will cover everything to know about parenting and such.

its a 10min video.

ok that took longer then expected! uhhh Vimeo! but I still Love it.

ow and I watched the video and I should have added a mouse pointer highlighter, because sometimes when I point at things on the video
the little cross pointer is a bit hard to see, but all is there, it shouldn't be to difficult to see.

thanks slayer, that really helped, but my main problem is when i try to parent a mesh to a your foot rig, i've attached a picture to show you what i mean, the shin and thigh work perfectly but the main foor are and the toes, as you can see seem to crumple around the armatures, i'm using the armatures as the parent using 'create from bone heat' as that is the most sucessful, any advice would be appreciated, thanks

It looks like you didn't apply the constraints, also I can see if you were going by how I named the bones the bone B0 is not following the rotation of Con0.

If you can send me the limb and armature so I can see the prob...
Also show the bone setup in X-Ray mode in your editing options it will show the bones through the mesh.

So far its looking nice!

it's the same bone setup as you did for your tutorial, i think the issue is that the mesh doesn't know which bone it should join to as the foot area as there are so many bones, i'll try a few things out, if that doesn't work do you want me to send you the .blend file?

Ow yah Im guessing what is happing is your applying the vortexes to both the control and the foot, so then if the control separates then your getting stretched vortexes. try hiding the control then adding the heated / vortexes to the Armature.

If that will not work, yah send me the .Blend file and Ill take a good look at it.
