FPSC Media Pack
Josh Mooney 2010

Greetings fellow FPSC'ers, Josh Mooney here with another unique media pack. This one is based off VR mission levels commonly found in action/shooter games, most notably Metal Gear Solid. I plan to build a large assortment of level segments, interactive entities/weapons and unique VR enemies. Cost(if any) pending.

Wip Screenshots
Segment/Entity WIP 1

Segment/Entity WIP 2

Segment/Entity WIP 3

Since I might plan on selling this media, once I've completed the bulk of it I'll be wanting some testers to try it out, make sure there are no issues with collision, model artifacts, etc. If you'd like to be a tester please email me with your specs and FPSC version.

My Development Notes:
Oct 11: finished 17 segments and 2 entities

Thanks for the comments. I think I'll be ready for some testers next week. Want to get another 20 planned segments in, and at least one weapon and enemy.

If anyone has any suggestions for content let me know, can never have too many ideas.

New pic added. Just playing around with platform heights.

I have few suggestions:
-Make it in many colours.
-Make some enemies with only wireframe texture, but with those colors.
-Skybox to match that scene
-Entitys. Tables and so on, but with those textures.

And Now with real demo.

Dammit. Well then make some houses to entitys where you can go in. I'm not talking simple boxes with textures. Just houses with rooms and all that.

Already planned too. Lol. I'm planning to build houses, buildings, towers, cars, etc for the pack. Basically it's a large assortment of real world items made VR looking.

Sorry but I'm not convinced.
I mean, everyone can make this with imagination and the Generic Pack from Helix. :/

But it sounds cool anyways, keep up the good work.

RelMayer: Honestly, mine look way better. Those models consist of simple shapes and a single texture which is not even UV mapped to scale with each other. It may not look it, but there is a lot going on in the screens that you may not realize. I'll convince you in time.

I like the idea, of other colors, you could make a tribute shooter to "TRON" the movie if it was blue

My suggestions, segments with open sections for a door, single and double width, and also segment with a hole for windows sections, of different sizes. ramp segment, both as a wedge triangle, and the plank type ramp, though it will have to be watched how its built as these can be slotted together to form longer ramps, floor segment of a flat brush, ie no Y depth, also as angled version for ramps. Segment of 100x100x100 units, these are usefull for using, in the same way minecrafts blocks are usefull, you could also make varieties of these, same Y depth of 100, but smaller in X and Z, as I dont know the size in the texture I cant say the size, as the smaller blocks must conform to it of course. A wall of half the height, not the usual 100 units heigh, also sections to put on the end of these, 45* slope on them, so 50x50x50, 45* cut, you may want a version of these for the full height walls. Wall segments of different thickness, as I dont know the texture grid sizes I cant say the exact thickness, it will depend on what size the texture is to conform to the grid you have textured. I have other ideas, I may have to draw them to illustrate.

Finally got v118 b3 to work. Did some tests with DOF and a thrown together test HUD.

with hud:

without hud:

The bloom shader is so overpowering and I have no idea how to turn it down. Bummer really as I was looking forward to using it to complement the glowing lines.

Anyway, I'm reworking the textures with shader maps. I've been hit with some crazy ideas and I want to test them out. If all goes to plan, look forward to some craziness.

Looks awesome and I would be prepared to pay for it. Just I don't have any money and I'm too stingy.

If I had the cash I would be tempted to buy it though

The re-edits are going along well, now that Bond has released his bloom shader I'm adjusting my shader maps to better utilize it. I'm going for that 'Tron' style glow for everything.

Since the old media is, well old I'll release that for free. Here's a screen of the old media with bond's shader in effect, and a download at the bottom.

Download

Will be starting a new thread soon with the new and improved VR graphics. So far I have 100+ segments and 95 entities. Working on getting the enemies and weapons working. Look for the first wave of alpha testing for all those who emailed me.

Thanks again!

Thank you for the download. We've been enjoying playing with this. Although you say it's old, it's new for us and has given some new ideas for developments. Thank you for the hard work on this. Looking forward to the "new" thread.

There might be some issues with collision as some segments are both wall and floor. Setting collision variable to 4(polygon) will fix this. There might be some other bugs, I'm not sure, the download is 'as-is', no refund.

The cool thing about the new set, you don't have to place lights in the scene. Amazing what shaders can do.

Hmm..they are working for me. Only thing I can think of is check the FPE files and make sure they are pointing to the right media. Delete and converted files made by FPSC and try that as well. Otherwise, no idea why it wouldn't show up.

To answer your other question, you can use these commercially, credit appreciated.
