when compile the included test program, I get the following error:
#100013: Command out of place at line 361

DB Pro's IDE did not highlight line 361, but rather line# 366!
this line is an endif.

I guessed that if might mean an endif without an if or a do without a loop, etc. I've gone several times over the code and cannot find anything like this.

Is this the meaning of the error? What does it mean? What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Guess what? I pressed F4 to compile and test the syntax and I get no such error!

The only time I get this error is when I accidently attempt to create an IF block with THEN like so:

If a=1 then
.
<some code>
.
endif

instead of:

If a=1
.
<some code>
.
endif

...unless my tired eyes are deceiving me, that does not appear to be the problem here.

Thanks for your response.
I read your msg and thought: "Bad unprintable characters embedded that did not come through when I pasted the code into the forum!"

I tried deleting all the code from the IDE and then copying and pasting the code i posted on this forum back in the IDE! Alas it did not work!

I'm using Version 1.051 of Dark Basic Pro.
What version are you running?

This is really driving me crazy!

Have you also updated to latest IDE as well?

Just looked through the code manually, and it looks Ok for IF/ENDIFs and DO LOOPs.

orv - try creating a new _projecct_ and pasting the code into that. See what happens.

The number of times I've seen the project file mess things up is not even remotely funny.

I use a product that "remembers" old deleted code. The only way to get shut of the damn stuff is to retain the function and put a comment and no code in it.

Obviously, this shouldn't apply to a DB Pro source file because it's just a text file.

I agree. It stifles laughter around the world. I'd grow a beard before I could finish telling you the amount of times my mouselook code has stopped working because of project files.

well, I don't think its the project file. RATS!
I copied the source into a new project and tried to compile and got the same ugly results.

I am now going to check my versions of software...

BINGO-BON-ZINGO!!

It compiles now! The compiler was at the right version but the editor was at version: 1.0.6.1 ! Yikes!

I installed the two updates, first the oldest then the newest.

I loaded the project, hit F4, and SHAZAM! it compiled no errors!

I think this is sort of weird that updating the EDITOR not the COMPILER would cause it to COMPILE okay, but hey! It works!

The editor is not written by TGC, it was written by GuyS. He's apparently out of business now, but there are a couple of other people writing alternative editors.

Anyhow...glad to hear you're back up and running!
