Nice work. Have you tried SSS 'Sub Surface Scattering' with that you might be able to make an ozone, also try camera blur/distance blur.
Those two will add a nice bit of detail to your image.

@PrimalBeans I made the lense flare in blender with a halo.
I'll try that Slayer. Thanks for the advice.

Update
SSS didn't work as well as I hoped but at least I gave it a try.
Anyways worked on the atmosphere more.

Theres a way to make a beautiful glow effect with SSS... im going to give it a try sometime this week... I think a earth would be fun to make.

The thing is the earth is giving to much of a solid color... maybe use GIMP to cover the earth section and add a somewhat blue color to the earth to give it its atmosphere

Hey Madscientist im somewhat very much into space things, I edited the image. I just want to show you some cool things that can be done with 3d and 2d together... allot of artist do such things.

I hope you don't mind me doing so!?? I just want to give a very good idea of what can be done to pretty things up.

Okay, I'll put my image into photoshop and see what I can get out of it. Your edited image looks pretty cool.

Erm, not so fast here... I noticed a few things.

1) The clouds on the right of the image seem to glow/stick out more than the rest of the other clouds on the earth (marked in blue in the below pic).

2) I believe it's the normal map causing this, but I noticed these weird looking lines outlining wherever water meets land (marked in red).

Other than those tiny mistakes, I love it. It could be a real nice wallpaper for sure
