how many polys do you go up to until you start to lag? I lag at 100k... Im making a high poly game and I need to know how many polys someone can run...

most computers start to lag around 90k, including a gun, enemies, and a few dynamics. a good static level should never have more than 75k rendered at once, and that leaves room for enemies and guns. it's all about prioritizing, and removing unneeded detail, replacing it with textures, etc.

I've been preaching my gospel of performance comes first for EVER, but it seems no one but me likes constant 60/60 FPS rates, and would prefer levels cram-packed to the teeth with details up the wazoo. there's nothing WRONG with that, but other than FPSC users, most gamers prefer performance to small objects to get caught on.

I'm not saying detail is BAD, but it should be used when gameplay permits.
