This is the full version of my puzzle game that I entered for the Intel AppUp competition, complete with all 10 levels (the demo version I uploaded previously only had 4 levels), and a level editor.

I didn't win anything, but I enjoyed making the game anyway.

The first few levels are very easy just to get you used to the controls, but it does get challenging later on. I did intend to make a lot more levels for the competition, but ran out of time as the game engine took quite a while to make. There are only 10 at the moment, but I will add more when I get time.

The keys are:

Up - Move forward / push
Left - Turn left
Right - Turn right
Down - Turn around
Space - Toggle view (overview / 3rd person / 1st person)
Return - Toggle mode (walk / select robot / demolition)
Control - Switch robot (when you have more than one robot)

You can also control the robot by clicking the directional icons. You can turn the robot with the mouse when using 3rd person view by clicking and holding the mouse button (while pointing at the ground at the robot's feet) and moving the mouse left or right.

Enjoy.

I've been emailed asking if I can summarise the behaviour of the different wall types, so here goes:

Brown wall (floor) - Push = No, Demolish = No. Any falling wall will not connect to brown wall.

Red wall - Push = Yes, Demolish = Yes.

Blue wall - Push = Yes, Demolish = Yes. Will be destroyed if it falls, or another wall falls onto it.

Green wall - Push = Yes, Demolish = Yes. Destroying green wall will cause any other connected green wall to also be destroyed. i.e. you can destroy an entire linked green section with one demolition charge.

Grey wall - Push = Yes, Demolish = No. Indestructible!

Ice - Push = Yes, Demolish = Yes. Ice will continue moving if pushed unless it is stopped by another wall, or the level boundary.

I hope this helps.

Hi Gibba gobba,

Yes this was made with DB Pro (the latest version 7.5).

The only requirement is that you must have a recent DirectX 9.0c installed (which is the same for all DB Pro games). The game was designed to work on a Netbook, so it is very unlikely that your PC can't run it.

You can download the latest DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft here:

If you already have this and the game is still crashing then does it come up with any message?

Not a winner in the contest, but still a really good game, Globbits! Well done!
Did you already got it on AppUp?
Hope to see more levels coming?

Cheers

Hi Slayer,

Thanks very much.

No. I'm on submission 3 at the moment. I have been using War to create the msi which installs perfectly well on any PC that I try it on, but I keep getting ILU03 - Application launch: Fail from the submission test results. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong!

From what I can make out the people who have managed to get their games on AppUp are using Visual Studio. Maybe War is doing something that AppUp doesn't like, but we are powerless to change? I hope not, but the two weeks wait for the submission results is really frustrating, and I'm finding it difficult to motivate myself to finding a solution (other than buying Visual Studio!)

Yes, I have done a few more levels over the last couple of days and will release another version when there are ten more. Have you completed all ten so far?

Cheers,

Here is the GUI system (a slightly earlier version than in the game as I it had to be tied in with other things, but it is a good working example).

This may be useful for anyone who wants a nice simple GUI (labels, text boxes, list boxes etc), with a really easy event system that is all written in DB Pro. This is helpful if you need a GUI in fullscreen mode.

Anyway here it is:
