Hey, ive recently started making a game using fpsc ready models, everything is working fine as far as character animations go, ive managed to create a system that allows me to load in any FPSC charecter and have the movement animations working automatically. but as far as weapons go, i cant seem to get it right, ive tried using
but the gun always ends up stuck in my characters leg, is there a specific way i should load in a model so that it ends up in a characters hand ? is there an animation i need to use so that it works properly ?

I think the limb is wrong if its stuck to the leg.

There is a specific limb that you have to set it to, and you may also have to rotate the weapon. No need to scale the weapon however.

I made a small limb finder program to check which limb i should glue the gun to.

Yeah i opened up the FPE file and found

I guessed from this that 3 = the left arm ? and 4 = the right arm ?
thats why the code says to glue to limb 4

and bergice, can i see a link to your limb finder program ?

Its not really an advanced program, it just does the job at finding the limb, i don't think i have it anymore.

Just do something like this:

Untested code, basically you can cycle between the different limbs of the model. Just add a second object (the weapon) and glue it to the current limb and it will be easy.

Here is my weapon positioner:

I use it to scale, rotate and position my weapons. One thing, you can use "shift" to rotate the weapon in the opposite direction.

Oh, and you'll have to manually edit the code for your own models/textures as I haven't put any loading code in yet!

Alright,i see your solutions, but is it basically just trial and error ? theres no defined way to get a gun positioned on a limb properly every time ?

Well if you use FPSC characters and weapons then i think there is a defined limb for every model that will fit for all FPSC weapons.

The defined limb is called "FIRESPOT" as per my example but unfortunately the weapons aren't always the same. Normally it's scripted in I think...

offtopic, but can you point me in the right direction on how you do this. I cant seem to figure out what the values are in the FPE. I take it it has somethig to do with these values

Cheers

Thats right. Some of them are uncorrect and you may have to check them manually.

You can take a look at this one:

Quote: "rem idle
rem 961
rem 986

rem walk
rem 988
rem 1012

rem strafeleft
rem 1012
rem 1032

rem straferight
rem 1032
rem 9052

rem run
rem 1053
rem 1071

rem reload
rem 1071
rem 1121

rem crouch_idle
rem 1071
rem 1146

rem crouch_walk
rem 1046
rem 1171

rem crouch_reload
rem 1171
rem 1219
