DarkBASIC Professional Discussion / Advertising in Paid version of DBPro?

I read somewhere that the new free version of DBPro has advertising in it. Then just after that I downloaded update 7.5 for DBPro which I purchased back in 2006. Now my IDE has advertising in it? Is it supposed to be like that?

No, there is a way to get rid of it (I don't have any in my editor) but I'm not sure how. Did you do a forum search?

Your not alone Kieran. My main Vista computer's 9800gx2 card finally died and so had to go back to my older XP computer. Updated DBPro to 7.5 and the "EditorNew.exe" editor shows ads. For the life of me I can't figure out how to tell it I have a licensed copy of DBPro.

So... I'm currently using the "editorU73.exe" editor.

I thought there was a thread made about this a while back, but for the life of me again ... I cant find it either.

The point of all this is that the newest editor should be able to automatically detect if you have the licensed version of DBPro. Not trying to figure out a hack to disable the ads thing. It worked for me on my Vista 64 bit machine. Why not on my XP 32 bit machine??

I didn't have to 'hack' anything... unfortunately I don't have DBP here to check settings but there must be a way to disable it from the editor, surely.

Just looked at it again and still cant find anything to turn it off. I hope this isn't a case of me being blind as a bat.

Ok sry for the double post...

Finally found it. Had to use my old bat radar to see it.

Under the Help Menu
Select 'Check DarkBASIC modules...'

It will pop up a window with installed modules and there will be an activate button. Press that to activate with your email/activation code.

Selecting 'Check DarkBASIC modules...' isn't really all that obvious to me to register stuff.

Thanks baxslash for driving me to find it!

Edit: arg... ofcoarse now I found out Lee forced spaces on tabs. I get a bunch of squares where I had tabs to indent text. Oh well, back to 'editorU73.exe'.

Well he disabled it. You see it in the options all grayed out. It's even noted in the 7.5 list of things done.

Thanks for shedding some light on the situation. I might leave the ads there for now since some of the plugin packs and such look like they could be helpful so until I get around to actually looking through all the products it might be useful. If they annoy me though i'll just disable them.
