A MUSCLE FLEX PROGRAM

I know this already exists in the industrial standard gaming industry.

I've been noticing this alot in games recently (God of War 3, Red Dead Redemption, etc), for people that don't know what muscle flex is, its when the charactor moves a part of the body that has muscle and you seen it tense and untense, I think it's really cool

It's an idea for someone to create in DBPro? Or if such a program exists (from TGC/third party) i'd love to buy it and i'm sure everyone else will.

If There Is A Problem, Find The Question.

I don't know if you can call it a "program" that flexes the muscles... It is essentially just a function that distorts the vertices of defined areas on your character. This can be quite easy to program actually, however, games like God of War 3 use an incredible amount of polygons, and the models DBP can handle are probably too low in detail to achieve such an effect.

It would be possible to use a shader maybe, or just scroll the texture...

Could it be included as an animation to the model?

Yes, but would you really want to animate that? Professional programs can actually have cloth and other stuff like muscles added to the character, and the program uses real-time physics calculations to move the cloth/muscles, and then adds it to the animation. This allows you to only animate the core skeleton, and the rest is handled by the program.

Infact, most professional games don't even use animation programs anymore, they have the developers put on a suite which records their movements, and that is then translated to the model to create an animation. I'd love to have access to this technology one day

Anyway, back to this flexing muscle... If you could pull it off to code such a shader/function/animating program etc. then yes, it would be an awesome product idea
