It is probably your computer, you may have other applications open or The models you're using are high poly or you have a large ammount of dynamic objects, character, decals etc.

What are you're computer specs?

I can't find any of the specs and I don't know them off the top of my head. Would cleaning up my computer work like deleting all of the things off the hard drive that I never use?

Shameless piece of self-promotion here

You might like to test my mod here http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=177429&b=21 if you're having speed issues. It might help.

This is a common misconception. Often, the amount of hard disk usage will have minimal impacts on system performance, because they work so fast nowadays. Disk clean-ups were prioritised to improve performance in the, let's say, 1960's.

I suggest you download a mod or the latest version of FPSC. You can obtain your specs by creating a new shortcut to 'dxdiag'. Just type it in.

I was having a similar problem. Now, I can't run post processing effects, so I had them turned off. My fix to my framerate, and no computer tech would ever believe me, was to open the buildsetup, and setup files in the folder, turn the postprocessing back on, save the files, and back off, and save the files and the same level I would drop to 18 FPS is now never below 57 FPS. I have no idea why or how that did anything, but I swear that is the only think I did. And it's not a fluke. My levels ran like complete garbage for weeks until I did that and now I have no issues with any of them.

Maybe hard drive cleaning involved polishing the valves...

I hear about this issue alot. All of you are write for pointing at the computer but you also missed something that fixes it 90% of the time. Go to control panel, add/remove programs, click on uninstall for FPSC and when prompted click on repair. Repair the install and reinstall your fav patch version. I use v17.

Next reload FPSC and rebuild the game. Then test it with everything turned off in the background. Another way to check this is press ctrl + Alt + Del. Choose task manager. At the bottom it will say processes. Follow this chart per OS

XP-Defult 19 min processes normal is about 25 and problem would be around 40 or more

Vista-Defult around 30 normal 40ish problem 60 or having it installed period lol

Win 7-Defult around 25-30 normal 35 to 40ish Problem around 55ish or more

Compare this "chart" to what your OS is idleing at. Idle means with nothing running. Like No Firefox, No IE Windows, No Games running, no nothing. Once all this clears compare Ram Chart:

XP-1 gig or better is best but 512 may work a little sluggish

Vista-1 gig at lest Recomend 2 or more

Win 7-2 gigs or more plunty to run lag free

Compare this to your computers current setup. Do to this go to Start, Right click my computer, properties. It should tell you how much RAM you have. Also this can tell you if your OS version is x86 or x64. You want a 64 Bit OS.

Hope this helps
