FPSC Classic Product Chat / Reasons for "build game" being much slower than "test level"?

Hi there. I recently purchased FPS Creator and am currently playing around with it. I have a test level with no entities, a couple of static lights, and some segments. It's not very large. When I test the level it runs at 58 FPS with all settings at max in FPS Creator as well as in the setup.ini.

However, when I build the game the FPS sits below 30 FPS and even disabling everything I could find (shadows, shaders) and turning qualities of textures and lighting down to minimum it barely gets up to 40.

Are there any common issues/mistakes that could be causing this speed difference?

Actually, during the time my post was held up for moderation, I worked it out.

When you test a game, the FPS Creator Editing window goes black. When you run the game separately it (obviously) doesn't. I have dual monitors so half the rendering time was being spent on the FPSC editor and only half on my game. I minimised FPS Creator and ran my game and I was back to 58 FPS in my EXE. I feel pretty dumb!

That's strange, as the build game is normally noticebly faster than the test game. I can't think of any reason off the top of my head unless you've got other applications running.

I think you are correct GuideBot, If I have FPS Creator running at the same time as the built game, I drop almost half my framerate. When playing a built game, I make sure nothing non essential is running.
