It does look good, but I don't see any characters, I'd be interested to know if you have successfully added them without collision issues, especially using AI. Have you managed that?

Interesting, but the fact there's a single texture for the map itself does not really help it in terms of visuals.. While it's not often done inside FPSC, I remember there were a few interesting thoughts and plans for an entire terrain model pack with texture details that could probably make you cry your eyes out.. It was fairly interesting to watch, even though back then I had my doubts about some things surrounding it.

I'm not saying your attempt is bad, just saying you might want to work on the texture a little, perhaps bake a height-map and texture it from there.

And as everyone else, I'm intrigued to see how the AI responds to it.. I'm assuming it's a single piece of terrain taken from T.Ed, as I've seen a post of you about that before.. So I'm here to assume the AI will fall through it or do some other 'amusing' tricks.

Could you show the terrain with the default gas skbox, because currently there is no way to tell it's fpsc, not to doubt you but I just want to be sure.

Thanks

Dont understand why folks seem to think this is something new, there have been many, many attempts at creating terrain for FPSC which is why most of us know the issues and problems which arise from its use.
I could go into great detail on how to get working terrains in FPSC but actually tired of doing it, search the boards and you'll get all the info you need.
Your terrain will never have enemy collision as can be seen from your screenshot where the AI is obviously bouncing up and down and wont move in any dierction. As the terrain is simply a model imported into FPSC of course it will appear and you will have some player collision, though I can say for sure you will have some areas in which the player will get stuck resulting in the need for the good old crouch key to get unstuck, it depends entirely on the size and poly count of the terrain mesh.
The ONLY way to get enemy collision is to slice the mesh into segment units, and your limited to 40 units height, anything above this and segments will fail to appear.

umm lets see 15-23 fps w/no AI and AI don't work...doesnt sound very usefull unless low texture size and in background.

HI guys i am back

@ The Zoq2 i made the terain with T.ED and then imported the mesh and a texture into fpsc.

@ rolfy thank you for your tips and hints but this is new because i can create very large terains and there NO player collison problems and i have never been stuck in my terain.

@ visigoth What do you mean ?

@ AJ Schaeffer no the AI doesn't work on my terain but what is great is that i have a very largh terain with a very high FPS even with the full shaders full lightmapping and the best texture size

Dont mean to be rude, but again, this is not new.
Personally I have created terrain full 40x40 grid size which does have full collision for enemy AI. Click my profile and you find a few different threads going back over the last few years which have different types of terrain, even a few wich are just the same as this, only difference being I didn't use T.Ed.

I am not the only one to do these terrains either, people have being importing terrains exactly like this for a long time. I don't want to be mean with this and congrats on what you have done so far, but when folks claim a first I just think it should be correct and credit where it is due.
To be honest as far as I know the ONLY terrain to be created at present with full enemy AI collision is my own (in the past it has been done, though only shown in a video so not sure it was for real) . I have put a tremendous amount of work into getting terrain into FPSC and same as this tried single mesh entites to start.

40x40 full grid

Full enemy collision

Although the above screens show a terrain which is sliced only on the middle 20x20 grid for enemy collision I have also created and siced full 40x40 terrain mesh for enemy collision over entire grid.
These terrains are optimised low poly meshes to keep up the frame rate and are only 32000 poly's. They could be more than that for detail but FPSC prefers less especially for outdoor levels and you want to populate the scene as well. I can see that your mesh is way too high poly and correct me if I am wrong (I havent used the new Beta much) but from what I am seeing your fps is 10-13 with just one character.

Quote: "i have never been stuck in my terain."

You got lucky, with a mesh like that sometimes it works fine mostly it doesn't and some areas get funky.

Earlier versions of terrain could be created using 3x3 segment size meshes which were sliced and imported into FPSC as segments, even though the total mesh would be 10x10 or even 40x40, if done corectly all the meshes would align in Segment creator because they shared the same pivot point.
You can dowload free version here.

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=100643&b=24

After the introduction of null space which was intended to stop AI walking off platforms etc it became necessary to slice the mesh into single segment sizes. You can still get the above to work by placing stock floor segments beneath the terrain, just place them at same level, as the terrain meshes are off the floor, and put them where you want AI collision (this is actually handy if you want enemies to stick to certain areas like paths etc).
I also believe Cosmic made some 3x3 terrains which can be built up over the level in his country pack but these will likely have less variety of detail than 10x10.

You can find the full version sliced terrains for sale around the forums just click my profile and you'll find the threads.
