For those who missed it, a 'Trillion' is a 5x5 square character with three legs - so 2 of the 25 squares are never used except during animation. The idea is that the design conveys the dead minimum information a person needs to understand a character's personality. You can find working examples of these guys in the Ball demo, linked in my sig.

For an opening post, I figured I'd just start with the characters I've already done. These are for the Trillion Ball demo - so they're meant to be fighters. I'll be doing more of these guys soon.

That's great Fuzzy!!!

See how it's possible to get some really neat results from the Trillion formula?

As another example, I did some animals. All this art has sprite sheets to go along with it. The sig demo shows them in action pretty good.

What an interesting little concept!
I just had a go at some Trillions too.

Rambo - Mario - Koopa

Edit:
Did you know that a Trillion is a number in German? It means a one with 18 zeros.

Now the plot thickens, the fps decreases, and the awesomeness goes through the roof.

@Pauli: man, I didn't even have to read your post before I knew what was happening in that picture - I bet rambo would have been the trickiest. Nice job!

I also did some more, experimenting with monochrome and shapes. This is totally without colour:

EDIT: Aww, dropbox appears to be flipping out right now... It'll be up again soon. Using forum upload temporarily.

Oh MMM, you have started something
It's so fun to create these little things. It's exciting to see how much detail and soul you can put into those 25 pixels!

Here's another Trillion trio:

Bart Simpson - Marine Soldier - Santa Clause

By the way, you can just upload one image to your post here, copy it's address and edit the post to paste in this image!

Now the plot thickens, the fps decreases, and the awesomeness goes through the roof.

Done and done.

I'm really liking santa and the soldier, Pauli. It's like instant recognition! Bart's colours are bleeding on my screen though - so I think I'm missing something there (hair works wonders though).

Also, I got carried away here...

ok, i'll bite:

updated: i decided they shouldn't be barefoot on the first date

oh, and yes. i realize the rule is a 5x5 character, not characters. alas, some of them looked bored so i gave them something to do.

I had a cool idea, if you haven't already thought of this. For Trillion Ball, you should create some sort of in-game editor. Players could create their own characters, and then upload them to a gallery that is also accessable from the game. They could share and download characters to play as. A useless feature, but it would be cool...

i present to you, "First Date: A 30 Second Trillion™-Based Love Story" - Part One (I might make a trilogy out of this for the Lifetime Channel)

This "dead minimum" info is just too minimum for me to figure out what half these pictures are.

Quote: "your animation..."

not bad for 5x5 grid-work, eh? glad you like. one problem with it:

i'm still waiting for a call from Lifetime. until then, i'll hold on the rest of the trilogy.

also, i think some people are missing the "with 3 legs" aspect from the trillion definition/restriction (yours & david's). it's why i only claimed "trillion™-based" on the animation since it starts out as a "true" trillion (like the other statics i offered), then simply becomes a 5x5 grid animation.
