I know this is an odd way of reporting a pirate, but recently I found a member on my site who claims to come from over here - TGC - (username: saytara21) who, in however seldom cases, referenced some form of pirating. He asked where he could get the CryEngine, and also asked for the serial number of either FPSC versions (assuming X9 or X10). Of course, I've banned him and recorded his IP address and email address - should I email his IP/mail to a mod to see if they can track him from here? I know it may not be worth all this trouble, but I just found it quite annoying.

Sorry, just felt like helping at least a little and to see what I should do in the future if this occurred again.

Yes, you should. Nobody likes a thief.

Sounds like they were blatant about it! I am sure anyone who put any serious time into a product or game for anything other than a hobby would not want their stuff pirated.

Yeah inform the mod squad about this! it just gets me that people want to ruin the fun for everyone else! wth is limewire down and not pirate bay! i think we should get as many people as possible to shut down pirate bay. just one more poke at the vitals of TGC's losses

...contact a mod, explain your experience, and supply pertinent name and IP information.

A permanent ban and IP block should be possible on these boards.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I've e-mailed Nickydude as he seems to be the most active moderator as of this time (on the FPSC boards).

I also missed another post he made on my forums, he asked if he could take anything free from me like FPSC

Mods aren't even active here anymore are they? Keith hasn't replied to any of my emails for months now, Thraxas hasn't replied for ages, and Nickydude still hasn't replied to my email.

I don't think we need new mods completely - I think we just need our current moderators to be a little more active for their role on the forums.

Just give it time, PWP. The mods have a life *outside* the forum and can't always be available to answer e-mails or deal with issues. If you sent them an e-mail with the information to pass along, that's all you can do. Otherwise, ban the user on your end and be done with the issue.

I can say that KeithC is extremely busy at the moment, since we communicate quite frequently. That's why you may not have had a reply from him.

PW@

dont want to sound rude but if you are capable to run your own website, you should now what to do.there is no reason to make a thread about here. just ban him.

The mods have more enough to do on this forum, why should they bother what happened on your site?? so instead attacking the mods here. solve the problem yourself its still your website.

I know, for me personally, I've had an incredibly busy time in the past few months. It's not that I didn't want to be active, it's that I simply did not have time.

I now have the time, but going through a few months of unanswered email takes time.

FPSC Moderators, Moderate FPSC forums not all of the internet. thats not our job. Anyone that finds issues off these boards that they feel encroach on TGC rights can take the appropriate action themselves and or report such to the appropriate authorities.

If you report something to Moderators given due judgement they will take or not take action as they see fit.

FPSC moderators dont intervene much in the forums here unless its necessary. That does not mean we are inactive.

Our Role is to Moderate and not necessarilly support, contribute to or take part in the forums in any other way at all other than by our own goodwill and interest in supporting FPSC, these forums and gamemaking in general.

Thankfully for many we dont see it necessary to Moderate heavily.

If the need arise you will find that the Moderators are not far away and will certainly be more active than you might like them to be.

I didn't receive an email.

Unfortunately we can't do anything about pirates on other sites unless we get solid evidence.

Since becoming an IT teacher I too have little time (don't become a teacher unless you want to stay up half the night marking student's work! lol!)
