hi I'm trying to dowload and install Extends from this website .. but the installer reports missing particles DLL - has anyone experienced this problem? .. maybe it's cos my graphics card might not do particles .. or is there another reason?

Maybe you need to install the "Cloth and Particle" addon for DBP? Should be in your downloads directly under the link for DBP...

@Baxslash:
I think the cloth and particles stuff was included in one of the recent DBP updates. (Edit: Quick search of the forums later, and yes, it was included in the 7.3 update)

@owlman:
Make sure that you have installed the 7.5 update before you start installing plugins and add ons otherwise a few of them won't work.

Sounds like maybe your Extends installer is corrupted. Have you tried re-downloading it again?

>Edit<

I just downloaded and installed the extends plug in and it worked fine for me on my Windows 7 32 bit install (With admin rights); The archive (Extends_010310.zip) was 10.5mb and contained a file called Extends.exe, which was 10,962kb in size.

I think the darklights problem might be administrator related .. I am the only user on this machine so I have admin rights .. I right click on the exe and run as admin (i've also tried running just left clicking) .. and I follow the steps in the read me file in the dl folder .. but i must be doing something wrong

thanks for replying anyway

Information I'm getting from elsewhere suggests I need to install DirectX9c to get the programs to run .. However, when I try to install DX9c the installer refuses because I already have DX11 - I get the 'later or equiv version already installed' message. How can I have both versions (9 and 11)of DX at the same time?

Vista and windows 7 can have legacy DirectX9 installed along side DirectX 10 onwards.

All you do is just run the web installer?

there is something not right .. I have downloaded the webinstaller for dx9c twice .. and both times it says the an eqiv or better version is already installed then exits .. when I run dxdiag it says current version is dx11 .. I have downloaded Extends twice and installed and uninstalled it lots of times but it always says that the dll is missing .. whenever I press F3 or F4 in DarkLights that program crashes .. I wanted to add a skybox and weather and time to my game this weekend but I cant get Extends -or DarkLights- to work - can anyone help?

Do you have any kind of antivirus running that for some reason might be setup to delete "suspect" files without prompting you?

That's all I can really think of.. other than your windows install being hosed for some reason, or for some reason things are not running at the proper permissions level.

Well it should say it is DX11. I kno wbecause I have DX9 running alongside DX11 fine and can use X-tends and DarkLights fine. But the XGUI in X-Tends doesn't world with Vista and 7 I think.

From my testing, X-GUI will work in terms of installing it and writing the code, but the program will crash unless you run it in XP compatibility mode

@Neco - I've been bashing my head against the dx9c and permissions wall for so long that I think the files I've installed from here are hosed for some reason - but is that possible? They seem fine for everyone else and they're the same links to the same files I guess

Inevitably this points to something being wrong on your system, more so than any chance the files are messed up. If you have an old spare hard drive you can chuck in and format, then do a clean install with, or another computer without DBPro on it, you could try one of those options for testing things out to see if they works properly.

yeah I guess you could be right .. I think I'll wait for other software from other sources to miss a beat before I wipe my drive clean and do a complete reinstall of the os tho
