So im makin a gun but the problem is texturing it into a .dds, so i can have gun2_d2.dds or something like that. I know that photoshop has it, but when i got the free version of i think 5, it wasn't there. (Thank god it was free too.) so the real question here is, how do i texture a 3d object?, and make a .dds at the end of the texturing. or if there is another product the same as photoshop that textures 3d object. and make a .dds.

What software are you using to make you gun with?

Also you don't have to use .dds you can use a number of other file formats for imagines. I use .PNG files as I don't have to play around with transparencey.

I know that does not answer your question completely, but hopefully it is a start.

I use google sketch up. But the problem is you have to name it gun2_d2. no? If i change the name of the texture i used on the model it won't texture the object. Sad Face

You can, but you need to UV-Map your model.
If you are using Wings 3D, you can go to my website, gjproductions.weebly.com , and in the tutorials section there is a basic UV-mapping tutorial

Google sketch up is not a program I know, the texture can be named anything you like. The only thing I can advise you on is that the model is best having only one texture file.

If you what to use shaders in FPSC you will need to name the texture file youTexturename_D2.png or another file format.

Try this tutorial by Bootlicker it should be use full.

Hope that help.

Very true, I kinda learn that the hard way

Thank you, I sort of cleared up the understanding
