Okay so I decided to update DBPro tonight just moments ago and after having done so I can no longer run my program. I can compile it yes, but as soon as it finishes compiling it, I am greeted with the dreaded "Program has caused an error and needs to close. Checking for solution..." I've uninstalled the update and reinstalled DBPro and it works fine again... but something in this update doesn't agree with Vista very well. All that I have been running since the first time I came across this problem tonight is a simple set display to the desktop width and height and loading an image, making a sprite and then entering a loop. Works in 7.4 but not 7.5.

I've changed compatibility, reinstalled into a different location, ran the compiled exe, ran from the editor and still this problem ensues. Has anyone else encountered such an error on vista or is there already a solution. I've searched the forums and found only four posts with the words "Vista" and "U75" in them. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

That's an odd one. I've had no problems with U7.5 (other than the usual collection of unfixed bugs ) and I'm using Vista 64 bit on one machine and XP 32 bit on another. I also have no problems with earlier versions either. Could you post a simple zipped test exe so I can try running it here?

I've been running on an up to date version of Vista 32 bit for a long time with no hiccups... Did you look here:

Here's an exe and on a side note - I noticed that each time I exit and reload a project, if there is media in the media list, the last file removes it's file extention

Runs fine on my 64bit Vista machine - or at least I just get a blank black screen until I press esc and then it exits cleanly. Is that what's supposed to happen?

Can't help you there - might be an editor bug.

I rem'd out the image load and sprite commands. It's just looping without any commands in the loop. I can't run this strip of code.

Upon uninstalling dbpro and reinstalling in the default location (... program files) I get "Undefined parser error" under 7.4 - working in the previous (C:\) directory... odd. I've opened task mangr, but no other instances are running and the error continues... this sounds more and more like a compiler error to me

Did you check the compatibility threads suggested by baxslash?

Another possibility is that a security setting somewhere is interfering - check out the Bug Reports board for some posts on weird compiler problems.

Do you have Set display mode anywhere? I find this command crashes it on Win7 for me I hope that gets fixed...

Read the compatibility and bug page for vista. Still not solving my problem. I don't know what to do.

Edit:
Been through every post twice now lol... I'm just gonna run 7.4 until whatever is causing this error is resolved in the update itself or if never - I'll have win 7 soon enough. Ugh - sooooooo annoying!

I'm running the latest version on windows 7 on my netbook and use set display mode all the time with no issues. Are you using an unsupported value? Maybe the default values are wrong in the IDE?

I really don't think this is a DBP issue...

I should've explained more clearly, it probably is specific to me. It only occurs when I use the Fullscreen Exclusive mode, using set display mode of any resolution causes a silent crash. :/
