Dont use skecthup, it might feel well on the short run, but on the long go its rubbish. Use something a little more powerfull like milkshape or Animator or Blender if you want to go more serious.
I am not claiming that skechup couldnt do very nice things, and that the tool makes the artist. But I must say sketchup wont get you far. Check out 3ds max, blender or the others stated above.

sure, but they all cost a fortune, and im not the piracy kind of guy...

any of those freeish?

and i do 3d models as a side hobby, im not intending to "go serious" i mainly do drawing and now also coding

btw i see you have "gone serious", thats some nice pieces of work you have there in your portfolio

Milkshape is $25

Anim8or and Blender are free though :3

Also ,

Wings 3D, Truespace, and another program called gmax(although i wouldnt mess with it since the license is tricky and you can only sell models with it in a certain way)

Those are free.

Hey the tools definately dont make the artist... as can be seen here, good work! I personally like blender, though some think its a bit complicated and will deffinately take practice to learn how to use it. (there are alot of shortcut keys to remember.) I cant say anything about the others as i really dont have a bunch of time on them.

Back to the models though, excellent work. I like to see them with some texture!

thanks everyone! I always thought blender was like the ultimate expensive program well seems i was wrong! Ill give it and the others a try. Thanks for the advice and i like shortcut keys

As to the textures... I like drawing in 2D so shouldnt be a problem, but in scetchup texturing is hell so i didnt give it much try...

The attachment is one of my drawings (on paper)(i like steampunkish styles)

What are the shells in the crate for? The don't fit in the gatling gun and even if they do, they should be on a belt.

Yes, but it won't look good ingame if you catch my drift.

@noobnerd
The posing on the last sketch could use a bit of reworking however the clothing and armor that he's wearing is top notch.

do you have any Tposes? Like this, but bigger.
I'd like to have a shot at modeling one of the characters.

lol, I don't know for sure actually. I never used the program. It has something to do with the uv's. Textures all screwing up ingame.

do you mean if i have made a 3d model of my charachter? Or if i would like to draw him from three different angles? In both cases no i dont have, i could draw someone from those three angles though.

And the prob with scetchups textures is that you cant move them except by moving the model which means that you really cant do any serious texturing in scetchup

the actual models are fine,(if you can get it to export)
But its not free to use commercially, you need pro :3

then you have to uvmap and texture in other programs.

(make sure to export in the program you uvmapped in)

It wont matter one way or another if its in .x format if the license says you cant commercially use it. But if you just do it for fun then no one will bother you. Honestly you have some great stuff and if you can get them to .x you can import them to almost anything you want (except blender 2.5 beta... no import script yet. 2.49 has an importer that will import the mesh but no animation or materials. Since you havent added any materials anyway thats no big deal for you.) I downloaded truespace last night to try it out, and it seems decent yet im not really sure what im doing with it yet and im not sure if ill take the time to learn it but it seems there are some good options for you if you feel like learning something new! Great work and good luck!

are you sure blender 2.5b has no import scripts? Have you checked the user settings to see if the import plugin isn't turned off? /horribly offtopic

I have been using blender for like 6 months and im very good at it
now. I could almost make anything and the shortcuts work very well.
Im using 2,49b because I cant seem to find anything in 2.5b.

Good luck with it!

I hope you show more concepts!... I didn't know
what steam punk was tell you talked about it. I Loved that kind of
stile but never knew what the stile was ever called. I so have to
now model something with such stile. I love the way copper looks...
so shiny! hahaha

The release i have doesnt have it. If theyve updated since then it may. Yes i have been through the script library and turned on the ones i needed, and i dont recall there being an IMPORTER. There most deffinately is an exporter written so far but no importer. While this was off topic I thought it was relivant to helping him find something a little more powerful and commercially usable to continue to create great work. Thats all....

yes, but the shipped exporter is crap. get the one from Kira
herehttp://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=166987&b=3

Add the scripts folder you put it in to your scripts directory in user preferences.
For example i just made a seperate c:\blender~whatever\scripts\
added the python script to that folder and in the user prefernce window in blender added that folder under scripts. (Dont forget to save the user prefs or youll have to do it again when you restart blender the next time.
The importer only imports mesh nothing else. Ive only used it a couple of times so i dont know how acurate it is but it seemed like it worked ok.

One thing that i had to do with the exporter for .x in 4.9 was write an extra line in that set animation speed (you only need this if your making anything animated.) otherwise the .x files will play at super speed and make your characters/whatever look like their having a seizure. If you want i can lookup what I had added and have it for you tomarrow, but i cant think of it off hand as im not really that great at python.

weight paint is used for animation. Once your armature (bones) is set up you can paint weights onto your mesh to indicate how much influence a bone has on the vertices.

edit: @noobnerd, wana see my take on that machine?

Link, that is very vague.
You basically want to select faces of a certain object that corresponds with the shape the tool for uvmapping says.

I.E.
Select the barrels of the minigun and do a cylindrical map.
Select the both parallel sides of the stand holding the minigun and do a planar map, weld them together so you save space and texture time.

Map it in chunks of sections, not as small pieces, or as the whole model.
You can do little pieces but: it will take forever to find what pieces are what, you will have obvious seams, overall lazy and low quality.
You can do whole model but : Texture stretching, wasted UV space, lazy and low quality.
