Not entirely sure if this is in the right section, But anyhow i am an epic fail at scripting. I can map on fps creator but i cannot script. However i am starting to learn how to script.

Are there any script tutorials for beginners
and are there any HUD tutorials?

Thanks everyone

Yes, we made a simple tutorial. This tutorial will demonstrate how to have an entity display a hud when the player walks towards it. A very simple guide that will help users understand the basics in scripting.

i think they should take a hint and put a new hud placement editor in v1.18. like instead of coordinates, just posistion them in a window by clicking and dragging or using the arrow keys

Pingas. Period.

I suppose that would be a nice feature for some people. It can become confusing at the very beginning if you know nothing about FPSC, scripting, etc. However, I would not use such a feature as we already have our steps/patterns in place.

It's the same theory as the person that invented a calculator. Years ago when I went to school, we did our math calculations by paper and pencil. Nowadays kids use a calculator, and you would be surprised how many could not do it manually if they had to.

Bottom line is you can try to make some things easy, but one has to have the time and willingness to dissect the applications they use. Learn what things do, play with it, make notes, learn from mistakes. Something simple like placing a door and switch, then looking at the script to understand how it works will teach you a lot. If you "do the majority" of the work by adding features, then what is learned? And how does one solve problems if something gets messed up?

I'm not against your idea, I'm just seasoned with experience and find that adding things can be good or bad, depending on how one looks at it and how it is used.

...you're lucky, BlackFox.

You had pencils?

All we had was granite and chisels, when I attended school.

I very much agree with BlackFox' response to Gibba gobba. Learn how to do
something the long, drawn out, hard way, and anything else becomes simple.

They introduced pencils and phased out the granite and chisels. And we had to walk to and from school, which took about an hour. It was faster than horse and buggy, especially during the winter time.

New ideas are always good, don't get me wrong. I'm just use to learning and using both new and old concepts. This way if one stops working, I can always revert to the other one. And there are times that new does not mean easier or better.
