Make your char not spawn at start and spawn him with a triggerzone and set the char's spawn life to 1. Make sure you set his destroy script to a script that leaves his corpse. And you must raise him off the ground a little. Just experiment. I did it.

I thought everyone knew about that. I've been using this method for quite a while.

I reject your stereotype of Wisconsin and, in fact, live in a city.

Not really. A lot of people say you have to do it in milkshape3d

Nice tip. I never thought of that.

The trigger zone would only be useful if you wanted the player to enter it and then spawn the character. However, I don't think it's needed if you wanted to spawn the character from the start of the level.

I guess if you wanted corpses that took on different shapes and positions you would need to create them in say Milkshape.

I reject your reality and substitute my own!

This method works fine if you just want a dead body in your game and you don't care about its position. The advantage with the milkshape method is that you can create custom poses to create atmosphere within your level.

I've tinkered with this method before, it's a nice and quick way of decorating your level with corpses, and with ragdoll the corpses' poses will always be a little bit different.

An additional tip, you might want to remove the death sound from the character; simply erase the Soundset line for the entity in-editor.

But they are still dynamic. its better to have static corpses.
and you can also make dead characters in fragmotion. (FREE TRIAL)
no need to buy milkshape.

1) load your character in fragmotion,
2) make your pose you want.
3) export as an X file
4) load in entity workshop and make it FPSC ready.

...SanXL is on the right track, to be sure.

I've created corpses, partial corpses, gibs, and sitting characters with outstanding
results, using this technique.
