I was wondering if anybody knows how to tear off a viewport such as the perspective viewport in 3D Studio Max? I am trying to do this so I can use different viewports on different monitors.

Pretty sure there is a duel screen setting for max that will allow you to setup your viewports for both monitors.

You can't have floating viewports in Max like you can in maya.
I'm sure there was a maxscript around that was experimenting with floating viewports. I'll do a little more research if I get time tonight.
If you need the viewport for reference then go to tools>Grab Viewport.

You can drag all the toolbars to another monitor, I usually only use the second monitor for the graph editors or UVW windows as ALT+W usually suffices to switch around between viewports.
