Hi,

Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Sorry also if this is answered in the forum somewhere, I have searched for the best part of an hour without any success.

The problem: I downloaded the free version of DBP, installed it and activated it. All went fine.

When I try to do a very basic "hello world" program, and hit F5 to compile and run all I get is a Dark Basic Window which allows me to how the mouse of the modules (to see what is installed etc).

When the mouse is over the DBP icon, it says "Your installed products are Dark Basic Professional (valid certificate)" There are three buttons, 1) More Information, 2) Active/Register - which I've already done and re-done and 3) Close.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Have I not installed something correctly maybe? The activation process went exactly as it was described in the tutorial sections.

I'm running this on a laptop with Windows 7. I am running the program as administrator.

Any suggestions or a point in the direction of the answer if it's been given already.

Gah, why don't peeps, post the solution to their queries when this happens? Someone else may have the same problem along the line, do a search, find this thread and think ah, same problem! Only to find you solved it but felt the need to keep it a secret. If I find the solution to any query I put here, I put up what I did to fix it. The times I have searched for things to help myself and find dead threads like this is pretty high. Don't be embarrassed, just say you fixed it and a brief description of what you did. It may well help someone in the future, and is a far more useful thread.

Sorry, my bad.

The symbol in the DBP Editor for 'Check DB Installed Modules" looked too much like the Play (Compile & Run) symbol. I was clicking on that and hence the window I was getting as described originally.

I'm positive I tried F5 to compile & run, but I must have not tried that.

Hopefully this helps out some other idiot who doesn't look at the toolbar properly like me
