I've been messing around with alpha blending and transparency modes while working on a detailing (particles/grass/all that)system. One thing that really bothers me is how, with a low resolution texture, the filtering always blurs the texture at close range. I've noticed that many professional games do not have this effect, but instead have crisp edges even with blurred textures. Is this possible? I personally think it looks a lot better...

[EDIT]
Here's a screenshot of the effect that I'm trying to achieve. Notice how although the bush has very low resolution textures, the edges are still defined.

This would probably have to be hard coded. I don't have a clue where to start.

Well, you should show us some code, but my guess is that you are loading
the textures without setting the mipmap flag to 1

If that doesn't help, show us the blurred image and some code we can test for you.

I could show you the code once I get home, but it is just the regular load image "grass.png",1 without any extra parameters. What I'm really looking for is a way to turn on this filtering mode in dbpro, which is not on by default. I haven't yet found a way to do so.

Use 'set object transparency' with a flag of 4 or 6.
